Job Summary
UFP Industrial’s innovation designer focuses on understanding and establishing the innovation process of bringing strategic new products to market within our targeted business units and runways. This position plays a critical role in focusing on an efficient process of product development through innovation summits, market research, ideation, conceptualization, through the process and channels to a manufacturing launch. This position drives the development process for UFP Industrial.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
- Learn and develop Accelerator systems and process to make ideation summits and handovers repeatable and scalable
- Determine and document product requirements including features, design attributes, and testing requirements through an efficient and digestible workflow
- Clearly define internal and external shareholders and work directly through them in order to drive progress within the Accelerator system workflow
- Create ideation sketches and market/manufacturing research on product topics as determined by business unit leaders
- During ideation summits, deliver iterative design sketches, renderings and concepts as determined by summit members.
- Finalize concepts post-summit and perform handover to be fully prototyped in manufacturing facility or outside suppliers
- Collaborate with UFP manufacturing plants or outside vendors to ensure that final product captures original design intent
- Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications
- Requires bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design or related discipline.
- Minimum three years of product development experience or UFP employee with relevant product experience.
- Expertise in 3D Studio Max, Solidworks, Sketch-up
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Compensation & Benefit Information:
Salary Pay Range: $50,000 - $65,000 annually. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by experience and other job-related factors.
Bonus/Incentive Pay
Annual performance bonus opportunity based on Company and specific business unit ROI and PBOP achievement criteria and individual job responsibility and performance.
