INDUSTRIAL FIRE FIGHTER FULL - TIME Opportunity

$67,474/ Average Annual Compensation (Hourly Paid Position)

We are seeking applications for the position of Industrial Fire fighter to fill an immediate opening and to establish an eligibility list for future hirings. Top candidates will be invited to attend a specialized flammable liquid firefighter school in Texas, (date to be determined).

The Industrial Fire fighter provides specialized Flammable Liquid and Electrical fire prevention, suppression and life safety services to San Diego Gas and Electric infrastructure including the Palomar Energy power generation facility and transmission substations throughout the SDG&E service territory.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES:

Provide standby coverage for specific clients that may include responding to fires with their company in a timely, safe and skilled manner, and participates in control of fires through hose and nozzle work, use of hand tools or a combination of these methods. Quickly follows established procedures when responding to emergencies as well as instructions given at the scene. Correctly and promptly uses all relevant apparatus, tools, and equipment. Remains calm and poised in all situations and gains rapid control over the problem at hand.

Administers first aid to injured parties at their appropriate level of training. Quickly analyzes situations where life safety is threatened and applies the correct treatment.

Conducts fuels reduction projects as directed by the supervisor on the project. Maintains a positive attitude and strives to meet the client's needs.

Safely operates Company vehicles, and equipment as directed.

Assists in the maintenance of fire and rescue apparatus, tools, and equipment keeping such apparatus, tools, and equipment in good operating and safe condition by competently and efficiently performing maintenance and testing tasks.

Remains skilled in modern fire suppression tactics, methods through training drills,

Keeps the company base and related grounds, facilities, and supplies in a clean, orderly and useable condition.

Performs routine non-firefighting work tasks willingly and adequately such as working on Company records, time cards and other related paperwork.

Functions satisfactorily as a team member of a fire company at any emergency or non-emergency scene, and willingly accepts their share of the work required.

Able to meet the physical requirements required to perform firefighting tasks. Remains skilled in and properly applies modern fire suppression tactics, methods, and procedures.

Projects a positive image to the client as a fire service professional.

Serves as an Acting Driver Operator 1

Minimum Required Qualifications :

• 18 years old
• High School Diploma or GED
• Valid CA Driver's License (Class C or B)
• Clean DMV record and Clean Background Investigation
• CPAT certification valid within 6 months

Minimum Training and Experience

• CA State Volunteer Firefighter Certification and four years' experience with a recognized all risk volunteer Fire Department, and/or
• CA State Fire Marshal Firefighter I certification and two years volunteer experience with a recognized all risk volunteer Fire Department and/or one-year full time paid experience with a professional Fire Department.
• National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians Certification and/or valid county EMT-B card. Must have a valid CPR first responder with AED certification.
• Hazardous Materials First Responder Operations (40hrs) Certificate is Mandatory.
• Confined Space Rescue and/or Rescue Systems I and II certifications.
