Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The primary role of the Industrial Controls Technician is to continuously improve the reliability, efficiency, and utilization of plant electrical, electronic, and computerized control systems. This is accomplished by utilizing electrical and mechanical expertise in the precise design, installation, programming, maintenance, and repair of plant systems and equipment followed by concise and accurate documentation of all activities and observations.
  • Apply industrial maintenance skills and knowledge to design, install, program, operate, maintain, and repair plant electrical, electronic, and computerized control systems.
  • Monitor and record system performance, and make adjustments to assure the safe and efficient operation of plant electrical, electronic, and computerized control systems.
  • Initiate and perform condition monitoring tasks including preventive and predictive maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot equipment failures to ascertain possible failure modes and participate with operations, plant engineering, suppliers, and other associates to improve equipment reliability.
  • Utilize the company's Enterprise Asset Management System (EAMS) and supports its use as a key management information tools.
  • Recommend, develop, and implement system modifications to improve equipment operations and provide for attainment of plant and department goals.
  • Provide direction and training for less skilled maintenance personnel and machine operators.

Requirements:

A successful candidate will possess a two-year degree in Automated Engineering Technology or equivalent degree or experience, a solid background in electrical and mechanical systems is critical to the success of the industrial controls technician. This position is a key member of a cross functional team that supports the improvement of asset reliability. A solid background in electrical and mechanical systems is critical to the success of the industrial controls technician. This position requires excellent technical writing and verbal communications skills and the ability to read and work from Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) technical manuals, Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), and control schematics. The incumbent must have the ability to learn and effectively use various software programs including the company's Enterprise Asset Management System (EAMS), AutoCAD, and various building and equipment control systems.
