Essential Functions

  • Develops and administers various human resource plans and procedures for all company personnel.
  • Plans organize and control all activities of the department. Develops department goals, objectives, and systems.
  • Develops and annually evaluates human resources budget
  • In collaboration with the Finance Dept, implements and regularly updates the compensation program, rewrites job descriptions as necessary, conducts annual salary surveys and develops merit pool (salary budget), analyzes compensation.
  • Develops, recommends, and implements personnel policies and procedures. Prepares and maintains a handbook on HR policies and procedures.
  • Performs benefits administration to include claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payment, and annual re-evaluation of policies for cost-effectiveness, information, activities, and program.
  • Develops and maintains affirmative action program; files EEO-1 annually; maintains other records, reports, and logs to conform to EEO regulations.
  • Conducts recruitment efforts at an assigned location for all exempt and nonexempt workers. Writes and places advertisements works with supervisors to screen and interview candidates, conducts and evaluates reference and background checking, extends job offers, conducts new-employee orientations, and conducts exit interviews.
  • Monitors career paths and employee relations and counseling. Monitors the performance evaluation program and revises it as necessary. Maintains organizational charts.
  • Establishes and maintains department records and reports. Participates in meetings including executive, administrative, and staff meetings, and other meetings such as seminars.
  • Evaluates reports, decisions, and results of department initiatives in relation to established goals. Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in the efficiency of the department and services performed.
  • Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and advises on best practices.
  • Acts as consultant and advisor to management regarding employee relations and effective management.
  • Manages all employees of the department and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within the HR department.
  • Responds to employment-related claims and represent the company in hearings and legal meetings.
  • Sources manage and evaluate all human resource-related vendors and services, including but not limited to recruitment and hiring, payroll and timekeeping, benefits, regulatory compliance, legal services, training, and other related services.
  • Travels to plant locations to administer HR programs and establish positive employee relations with the HR department. Travels approx. 10% of the year.
  • Maintains contact with staff.
  • Other duties as assigned, necessary, and/or prudent.

Supervisory Responsibilities
This position could be responsible for the supervision of the following positions:

  • HR Assistant.
  • Recruiter.
  • HR Generalist.
  • HR Process Improvement Analyst.

Salary
$80,000 - $95,000

Education* and* Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in Human Resources.
  • Baccalaureate Degree in Human Resources or related field of study, or equivalent combination of work experience and/or education.
  • Proficiency in current HR concepts, best practices, and regulations. PHR/SPHR or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Critical thinking and sound ethical/moral decision-making skills.
  • Problem-solving skills and resourcefulness.
  • Intermediate computer proficiency in Microsoft Windows environment, including Microsoft Office and other commonly used administrative software.

Physical Requirements

  • Able to sit for extended periods of time, walk, stand, climb, and reach.
  • Must be able to lift at least 25Ibs.
  • Visual acuity, finger dexterity, color discernment.
  • Must possess professional phone etiquette.
  • Able to wear prescribed personal protective equipment and appropriate clothing.
  • Occasionally work in conditions typical of a manufacturing environment, including noise, extreme temperatures, and humidity, odors, dust, etc. (exposure can be expected several times per week for short periods).
  • Effectively use a computer, monitor, keyboard, mouse, and commonly used software to complete necessary functions assigned.
  • Must be able to travel by auto, airline, rail, and other means of economy-class public transportation.

Working Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, dusty conditions, high-noise environments, chemicals used in the process, and extreme temperatures. The facility is an industrial manufacturing plant.
This position is designated safety sensitive.
