    High School Counselor, (1.0 FTE), Full-time, Permanent, 2023-2024 School Year

    This position will be split between Clackamas High School and Adrienne C. Nelson High School.

    Job Group: Licensed Wage Placement Table

    Annual Salary Range (2022-2023): $50,783- $96,286 ( 193-Day Contract ). Initial placement based on education, experience.
    Salary Range for the 2023-2024 School Year to be determined.

    This salary range reflects 1.0 FTE. Actual salary is pro-rated based on FTE and start date.

    As a licensed employee, you are eligible to receive:
    A stipend of $2,500 if certified by NBPTS (National Board for Professional Teaching Standards).
    A stipend of $3,000 if you hold a PhD or EdD.

    All Stipends are pro-rated based on 1.0 FTE and start/end dates of position/assignment.


    Retirement Plan Contribution:
    North Clackamas School District participates in the Oregon Public Employee Retirement System (PERS and OPSRP) on behalf of its employees. The district contributes the employer portion; there is also a mandatory employee portion. Upon eligibility, which is defined as working at least six full calendar months in a qualifying position, the employee is required to contribute 6% as their employee portion, via payroll deduction. Part-time employees working at least six months and 600 hours in a calendar year will qualify.


    Position Summary :

    The school counselor works with the Principal and school leadership team(s) in carrying out the school’s guidance and counseling program, which is based on the American School Counseling Association model. As a professional educator with a mental health perspective, the counselor understands and responds to the needs of a diverse student population. The counselor provides proactive leadership to engage all stakeholders in the delivery of programs and services to
    support the students’ social emotional development, academic achievement and career preparation. The school counselor may be assigned at the elementary, middle, or high school level.


    Minimum Qualifications :

    • Must have successful experience in working with culturally diverse families and communities, or have otherwise demonstrated a commitment to strengthening engagement within a diverse community and skills in communicating with a diverse population.
    • Successful completion of a degree in school counseling and valid state (TSPC) certification(s) as a school counselor.
    • Evidence of continuous professional learning and a commitment to participate in professional growth opportunities and self-reflection on professional practice.
    • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with parents, students, and staff.
    • Demonstrated ability to apply and use effectively a variety of personal and family counseling models.
    • Commitment to effective collaboration and teaming within a professional learning community.
    • Strong assessment, analytical, and diagnostic skills
    • Knowledge of child and adolescent development and ability to apply that knowledge to the selection and application of a comprehensive guidance-counseling program.
    • Knowledge and skill in the use of strategies necessary to meet the diverse needs of students.
    • Skill and ability to utilize technology to aid assessment, planning and implementation of the counseling program.
    • Skills and ability to serve as an educational leader including the ability to plan, organize, and facilitate staff meetings, planning processes, and cultural community projects and events.
    • Demonstrated understanding of the American School Counseling Association comprehensive school-counseling model.
    • Any position specific special qualifications indicated in the recruitment process.
