Job description
The Housekeeper/Laundry/Machine Operator maintains a clean, safe environment inside and outside the facility including resident rooms, offices, restrooms, and public areas by performing duties according to standards required by departmental techniques, procedures, needs, and/or governmental regulations. Hours for positions vary from 5:00am to 10:30pm.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists in special set-ups and tear downs, handles periodic cleaning projects such as window washing, carpet extracting, wall washing, vent cleaning, etc.
- Cares for carpet by vacuuming, spot cleaning and removing stains.
- Cleans and maintains floor by mopping, dusting, stripping sealing and refinishing.
- Cleans and polishes glass surfaces, walls, and windowsills, window frames, doors, and registers.
- Cleans and sanitizes patient discharge beds. Makes beds in designated areas. Washes down all discharge patient furniture including dressers, nightstands, and over-bed tables.
- Cleans and sanitizes waste receptacles.
- Cleans, sanitizes, and polishes baths, lavatories, and shower/sink fixtures.
- Collects trash and refuse from work areas and completes appropriate disposal.
- Coordinates the storage of various departments’ items.
- Dusts, washes, sponge mops, sanitizes, and extracts furniture.
- Keeps general storage areas clean and orderly.
- Keeps inventory of housekeeping and communications stocks.
- Maintains equipment and materials in a clean and orderly manner.
- Perform all stages of linen processing, including, but not limited to, collecting, transporting, sorting, weighing, loading, and unloading (washers, dryers, and chutes), folding, storing, and delivering.
- Performs cleansing tasks according to established House-keeping Department standards and procedures as scheduled.
- Replenishes paper towels, toilet paper, and other supplies as needed.
- Removing stains from items using the appropriate procedures
- Sorting, washing, drying, and folding clothing and other textile items.
- All other duties as assigned.
