The Department of Dermatology provides a variety of outpatient services: clinical dermatological surgical services, Dermatopathology services, pigment lesion services, cosmetic surgery, and Mohs surgery. This part-time position supports the UC Davis Dermatopathology Service/Mohs Laboratories by providing support for the technical areas within the Dermatopathology Service/Mohs Laboratories.

• Must have technical-and mechanical skills to operate and perform preventative maintenance on equipment in the area
• Demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills, documents, and reports clearly and concisely conveys instructions directions and information appropriately
• Ability to perform complex laboratory procedures following established protocols
• Ability to maintain records legibly and accurately
• Ability to work under time constraints.
• Ability to mufti task various projects and complete each project within the giving time line

• Histology certification (ASCP) or eligibility
• Must attend annual mandated JCAHO training
• Must adhere to no smoking, dress code, attendance, telephone and safety policies and procedures in the department
• In addition, must be able to work overtime when needed, and be able to travel to current and future off-site location Knowledge of UCDHS and Department of Dermatolögy Policies and Procedures
• Knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA), National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS), College of AmericaWPathologiSts (CAP), and JoinECommission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) clinical laboratory safety regulations
• Knowledge of guidelines as established by JCAHO, of the American Pathology (CAP) and the National Society of Histotechnology
• Knowledge of the laboratory and Hospital Information System (LES) and other basic computer programs.
• Knowledge and ability to operate complex Laboratory equipment according to established guidelines
• Knowledge and ability to state and follow Universal Precautions as required In a laboratory setting
• Must maintain patient confidentiality before, during and after specimen test preperation and perfomance
• Must follow established protocol and guidelines for specimen handling

• Must be able to lift 30 lbs.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Working knowledge of laboratory and other basic computer programs including Hospital Information Systems
• Must be able to work per diem Monday-Friday with variable hours and overtime as needed.
