Landfill
Employment Status: Full-Time
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Experience Required: 1 year of work experience
Minimum Education Requirements: High School Diploma / GED
Direct Supervisor: Landfill Manager
Primary Work Location: Outdoors
Physical requirements: This is operative work requiring the exertion of up to and exceeding 50 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects.
Certification: Ability to obtain CDL; valid driver’s license
Job Summary
Compact and bury refuse by operating various pieces of heavy equipment.
Essential Job Functions
An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all the following essential duties:
- Contribute to the operation of the landfill by implementing instructions from supervisor safely, correctly,
- Assist in the installation and maintenance of onsite utilities
- Responsible for insuring that equipment is maintained on a daily basis in proper working condition by
the completion of work shift
- Operate and transport heavy equipment in the performance of other tasks, i.e. snow removal, sand delivery, etc.,
- Assist in the maintenance of County property as may be required
- Perform related tasks as required
Knowledge
- Relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security
- Machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
Skills
- Equipment operation: Backhoe, Tamper, Air compressor
- Good mechanical aptitude
- Watch gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly
- Quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions
Abilities
- Time your movements or the movement of a piece of equipment in anticipation of changes in the speed and/or
- Exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects
- Maintain regular attendance at work
