SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Epic Clarity Data Model certification in one or more modules (EpicCare Inpatient, Hospital Billing, Prelude ADT, Radiant, Willow, Optime) required

Experience in Quality Measures Reporting preferred

Epic build experience in a live environment strongly preferred

Epic implementation experience specific to clinical workflows and order management strongly preferred

5+ years of experience in a healthcare related organization

5+ years demonstrated expertise in MS SQL Server or Oracle

Strong SQL Programming Skills (MS SQL Server/Oracle platforms)

Knowledge of data warehouse concepts, data structures and reporting

Extensive knowledge of SAP Business Objects architecture, functions, features, and capabilities

Extensive knowledge of best practices regarding reporting, workflows, policies, procedures, systems and culture in the healthcare environment

Strong analytical, problem-solving and metadata skills

Ability to translate business questions and requirements into reports, views, and BI query objects

Experience in gathering, documenting, prioritizing and tracking requirements

SUMMARY STATEMENT
The BI Developer is responsible for leading the development of reporting and analytics solutions for UCLA’s Hematologic Malignancies/Stem Cell Transplantation Program by gathering business needs, documenting requirements, identifying appropriate data sources, developing reports, and delivering them to stakeholders. The BI Developer takes direction from, and collaborates with, the Quality Assurance Manager and the Administrative Director, on work priorities and manages the resolution of escalated issues. The BI Developer will perform in depth and precise investigation and documentation of future-state reporting specifications and application reporting functionality. The BI Developer must achieve in-depth knowledge of relevant software applications as well as understand policies, procedures and constraints.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Meet with stakeholders to understand business needs for data requests. Gather requirements, document, clarify, interpret specifications and review for completeness and accuracy.

Design, develop, validate and perform thorough functional testing of extracts, reports, visualization dashboards utilizing analytics tools and data sources such as, including but not limited to: Tableau, WebI, SSRS, Power BI, Caboodle, Clarity, Reporting Workbench, Radar Dashboards, Universes, Registry Framework and Data Marts, SlicerDicer, and other Business Intelligence Tools.

Monitor performance of BI outputs and take corrective action to optimize or improve the performance when necessary.

Participate in application validation and QA efforts as they pertain to data, metrics, and analytics solutions creation and execution.

Manage the inventory of BI objects and outputs. Assure that the metadata used for the OHIA Analytics Catalog is meaningful, standardized, complete, accurate, and up to date.

Manage the measures and metrics for assigned Epic applications and/or business lines. Assure that the metadata used for the OHIA Measures and Metrics catalog is meaningful, standardized, complete, accurate, and up to date. Note the content maintained in the Epic Metrics Catalog and use that as an anchor for UCLA metrics.

Review upgrade documentation related to analytics tools and content, determine the best implementation approach. Evaluate, anticipate and communicate risks to existing BI outputs and processes, and recommend ways to mitigate those risks.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Work closely and collaboratively with end users, Application team, Epic TSs, Super Users, Training team, ISS support, fellow OHIA team members and other stakeholders to ensure the right reporting tools are used to maximize value to end users for reporting and analytics.

Work with fellow OHIA team members and end-users to resolve problems promptly

Takes the proper initiative to meet the expectations and needs of the user base

Completes tasks with quality and within the expected timeframe

Follows through and follows up on tasks or requests (from end to end)

Keeps track of assigned tasks and consistently provides weekly project deliverable status updates to both the Manager of Inpatient Business Intelligence and OHIA Project Management Office.

Maintains consistency in the completion and delivery of weekly time tracking spreadsheet.

Maintains a high level of professionalism

Prompt in attendance of meetings

Adequately prepared for meetings – materials have been adequately prepared, presentation is clear, concise and professional

Maintains a good work ethic, exhibits attitude of respect and integrity toward others.

Manages personal work assignments and priorities

Communicate clearly and foster good relationship and partnership and provide input and support to other team members within OHIA.

Fully support and champion OHIA, ISS, and enterprise strategy with regards to data, analytics and informatics
