Job Summary: This employee's main duties include maintaining the grounds including loading docks and sidewalks, of the convention center, the grounds at the Visitor Information Center, the Accounting Office, and the parking lots of the convention center.

Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) status: nonexempt - paid hourly

Specific Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Picks up debris from perimeter, grounds and parking lots.
• Empties outside trash cans.
• Operates sweepers and scrubbers as needed to maintain cleanliness of sidewalks.
• Operates blowers, edgers and mowers to maintain grounds.
• Regularly inspects and maintains the lawn irrigation system.
• Polishes metalwork such as fixtures and fittings.
• Washes windows, door panels, outside walls and sills.
• Assists with room setups and strikes as assigned.
• Greets guests in a courteous, professional manner.
• Operates motorized transports (mule and Cushman).
• Transports trash and waste to disposal area.
• Alerts maintenance staff of needed repairs or issues concerning the building.
• Performs duties and functions as assigned by management, including assisting in duties that are not typical to this position, such as, but not limited to, setting up tables and chairs, helping with housekeeping duties, and serving as a greeter for guests.

Minimum Experience, Skills or Education Required:

• High school education or equivalent preferred; one to three years' experience preferred.
• Specific Vocational Preparations preferred, including an occupationally significant combination of vocational education, apprentice training, on-the-job training or essential experience in less responsible jobs, which lead to higher jobs, or serving in other jobs.
• Must have mathematical development sufficient to be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure. Must have developed language skills to be able to read at a minimum level, print simple sentences and speak simple sentences. Must be able to follow instructions.
• Must be able to work outdoors in all kinds of weather.
• Must be able to learn simple procedures and techniques.
• Must be able to perform routine or the same task over and over again.
• Must be able to walk or stand for varying lengths of time, sometimes for long periods
• Must be able to work weekends, nights and holidays as required by schedule.

• Working Conditions: This employee works both inside and outside - the work activities occur inside and outside in approximately equal amounts.
