Job Description:

This position is a member of the Strategic Communications Division within the Tennessee Department of Human Resources (DOHR).

Responsible for all graphic design/art direction & multimedia production for the agency. Graphic design with an emphasis on digital advertising and ad copywriting for the web, email, social media & digital. Multimedia with a focus on multimedia, photography, and video production, which will include pre and post-production. From concept through execution, the common goal is to produce quality marketing materials and designs that communicate effectively with the desired audience, meet brand standards, and enhance awareness of the Tennessee Department of Human Resources (DOHR) program supported by DOHR.

Graphic Design

· Participate in developing concepts for publications, ad campaigns, and special promotions.

· Responsible for print-ready production of artwork for ads (print and digital), print materials, and artwork for collateral materials (signage, display materials, specialty items, etc.) and ensuring that all comply with state branding and image policies and procedures.

· Assist with maintaining ad, photo, and publications archives.

· Development of DOHR’s Annual Report.

· Assist other DOHR divisions with creative projects as requested.

Website Maintenance and Improvement

· Assist with content development for and support of external and internal websites associated with DOHR and related programs.

· Review broken links and out-of-date content.

· Support the HR Service Center and ZenDesk Application – Design input on customer -focused collateral.

· Make scheduled updates to site(s) and create new pages as required.Develop innovative ideas to keep the websites current and engaging.

Required Skills

Required skills include proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite and Photoshop. In addition, experience with photography and video, as well as animated graphic design skills, is required.

Education & Experience

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in graphic design, digital media, and/or related areas or at least three to five years of full-time professional experience in graphics, digital media, and/or related areas.

Knowledge and Skills

TECHNICAL SKILLS: Must have an intuitive ability to exercise sound judgment in manipulating the formal elements of visual communication, such as contrast, scale, color, pacing, and typography—mastery of current design tools.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Excellent communication skills with solid writing, proofing and editorial skills are required. Ability to understand multiple audiences and develop content focused on their specific needs. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees, consumers, and the general public using tact, courtesy, and cooperativeness. The ability to write an organized brief.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measurement using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY: Must be a strategic and innovative thinker who can see the larger picture and drive projects from development to completion. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Must have the ability to gain the respect and confidence of others and act with the highest level of integrity in all situations.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: A demonstrated capacity for developing and understanding marketing and communication strategies. A detail- and task-oriented self-starter, able to successfully manage multiple priorities and work well individually on a project or in a cross-functional team environment.

COMPUTER/MEDIA SKILLS: Proficiency with various software applications such as Adobe Creative Suites and Microsoft Office. Experience with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) is a plus.

PRINTING: A knowledge of the printing process with an understanding of color space and the psychology of colors.

Job Type: Contract

Salary: $70.00 - $75.00 per hour
