Primary Responsibilities
In the role of Geologist, we'll count on you to:
In the field:
Operations and maintenance of remediation systems
Soil, surface water, and groundwater sampling
USCS soil logging
Groundwater monitoring well installation
Operation of various types of monitoring equipment in the field
Coordination with and oversight of subcontractors, and completion of daily reports and various sample documentation forms
Phase I & II Environmental Site Assessments
Groundwater monitoring well installation
Have the availability for extended field work (up to 14 days) and travel. Annual travel is estimated at 25% to 50%
Office responsibilities may include environmental assessments including planning, data tabulation, evaluation, and interpretation, and technical report writing
Perform other duties as needed
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Geology, Earth Science, Hydrogeology or closely related field
- 2 years’ experience with environmental assessment projects including planning, site investigation, monitoring, report writing, overseeing drilling operations, familiarity with logging soil borings per USCS, installing groundwater monitoring wells, well development, and groundwater sampling
- Must be mechanically inclined and able to operate groundwater pumps, environmental monitoring equipment, and other relevant environmental field related duties
- Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work alone and within a team environment, including leading field teams
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, and Outlook
- HAZWOPER 40-hour certification
- Clean driving record
- Experience with well installation techniques, and groundwater and soil sampling procedures and analysis
- Ability and willingness to perform physically demanding tasks in adverse environmental conditions (rugged terrain, remote locations, hot and cold temperatures)
- Ability to travel
- Strong oral and written communication skills
