Vistant is seeking a General Ledger Accountant. The General Ledger Accountant, as a member of the Finance and Accounting Department, will collaborate with internal departments to gather, analyze, and interpret financial information.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Record financial transactions in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Prepare journal entries including schedules and supporting documentation in support of the monthly close process (pre-paid, fixed asset, accruals, etc.).
  • Analyze financial data and provide financial recommendations.
  • Prepare Balance Sheet Account Reconciliations monthly.
  • Prepare financial statement flux analysis.
  • Work closely with team members to play an integral role in the month-end close.
  • Be proactive with investigating and resolving discrepancies or issues timely and appropriate.
  • Assist with updating the monthly financial workbook used to support executive review and decision-making processes.
  • Assist with support for annual and quarterly tax and state compliance filings (Business licenses, federal and state PBC tax files, sales and use tax).
  • Assist with financial audit and various governmental audits.
  • Prioritize tasks to meet month-end close scheduled deadlines.

Experience:

  • Must have 5+ years of general ledger experience working and/or consulting with a federal government contractor.
  • Must have experience with the Costpoint accounting system and Deltek Time.
  • Must have experience working within DCAA, DCMA, and FAR guidelines.
  • Must be familiar with GAAP and cost accounting.
  • Must have strong knowledge of accounting theory and practice in preparation for account reconciliations and supporting schedules.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, strong problem-solving, analytical skills, and attention to detail.
  • Must possess strong time management skills, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work independently and with purpose.
  • Must have advanced Excel skills.
  • Must possess the ability to prioritize to meet competing deadlines.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BS), preferably in finance or accounting.

Place of Performance:

  • Remote - Preferred candidate will reside in DC, Maryland, or Virginia and be able to attend periodic meetings at Vistant's Washington, DC office.

Pay: $65,331.00 - $68,403.00 per year
