As a Sales Associate in our retail garden center, your primary role is assisting customers in selecting their purchases and stocking inventory. Your main duties include greeting customers, explaining products, recommending solutions, and helping locate merchandise. Additional responsibilities include merchandising, watering, and working in all positions throughout the garden center when needed.

To thrive in this position, you’ll need a minimum of 2 years of retail sales experience and strong horticultural knowledge. This position is a great fit for someone who has solid knowledge of plant varieties and care, an aptitude for working in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment and who works well with colleagues and customers. This is a seasonal position with 20-40 hours of work per week, with the possibility to become full-time. Weekend work will be required.


What You’ll Do

    *Greet customers and determine what each customer wants or needs *Assist customers with purchase decisions *Recommend, select, and help locate or obtain merchandise based on customer needs *Describe merchandise and explain benefits and care of merchandise *Compute sales prices, total purchases, and receive and process cash or credit payment *Partner with co-workers to satisfy customer needs *Build and maintain displays and features *Perform any Garden Center job function as directed by store management including, but not limited to, sales and merchandising, cashiering, plant care, carryout and general Garden Center housekeeping *The retail store is a mix of indoor and outdoor space and the majority of time in this position will be spent outside.


We are looking for someone who:

    *Has 2 or more years of retail sales experience required *Exhibits a strong horticultural knowledge *Has practical landscape knowledge *Displays excellent problem solving skills *Has a working knowledge of plant pests and diseases *Is able to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task *Is a strong team player and willing to perform other duties of the nursery as needed *Is able to lift 50 pounds daily *Can push up to 200 pounds with castors *Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions *Is able to handle challenging customer service situations while maintaining professional customer relations *Has legal documentation to work in the United States *High school diploma or equivalent preferred *Must pass pre-employment drug screen

Available shifts and compensation: We have available shifts all days of the week. Compensation is $16.00 - $18.50/hour.
