General Summary

The Front Desk Agent is responsible for assisting guests with arrival and departure from hotel ensuring the maintenance of financial controls and compliance with hotel standards.

Primary / Key Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Complete the registration process by inputting and retrieving information from a computer system, including confirming number of guests and room rate, make appropriate selection of rooms based on guest needs, and code electronic keys
  • Verify credit cards for authorization using electronic acceptance methods. Handle cash, make change and balance an assigned house bank
  • Accept and record vouchers, traveler's checks, and other forms of payment
  • Accurately post charges to guest rooms and house accounts
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure quality service is provided to all guests
  • Promptly answer the telephone, input messages into the computer, retrieve messages and mail/packages for guests as requested
  • Promote Wyndham Hotels and Resorts and brand marketing programs
  • Maintain clean and organized work environment at the front desk
  • Close guest accounts at time of check out and ascertain satisfaction
  • Field guest complaints, conducting thorough research to develop the most effective solutions and negotiate results
  • Any and all other duties assigned by the supervisor

Education and/or Experience and Qualifications

Minimum Education: High School diploma or GED

Minimum Experience: One (1) year of customer service experience and/or training in hospitality environment

  • Expected to greet customers immediately with a friendly and sincere welcome
  • Expected to have excellent problem-solving skills by listening and promptly responding to requests/complaints with appropriate action
  • Expected to have the ability to use judgment and discretion when planning and implementing detailed steps.

  • Expected to recognize situations that require notification of a manager

  • Expected to be able to efficiently manage multi-line phone system using positive and clear communication
  • Expected to have the ability to remain calm and alert especially during emergency situations and heavy hotel activity

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is exposed to outside weather conditions.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 - $15.50 per hour
