Fraud & Risk Specialist

Within Expedia Group, the Fraud Operations department is part of the eCommerce Risk Team. Our mission is to develop and own the strategies that protect Expedia Group from financial loss and/or brand damage across all brands and channels from fraudulent activity 24 hours a day/365 day a year. Our scope of responsibilities covers both leisure and business travelers with tastes and budgets ranging from modest to luxurious, with thousands of hotels and vacation rentals on nearly every continent, hundreds of airlines, thousands of activities, and dozens of car rental companies.

We are seeking a Fraud & Risk Specialist who is highly motivated, goal-oriented, and has a can-do mentality to mitigate fraudulent purchases on all points of sale world-wide. The Fraud & Risk Specialist reviews high-risk purchases/transactions, via real-time queues and after-the-fact reports, to identify unauthorized purchases and determine if transactions are fraudulent or not. Applicants must be flexible with their schedule, willing to work early or late shifts, weekends, and public holidays.

What you’ll do:

• Act as a leader and partners with management

• Will serve as a UAT resource for Fraud & Risk

• Contribute to onboarding and supporting new Fraud Investigators

• Accurately make decisions on complex cases from various workflows and may be asked to resolve decisioning conflicts

• Identify bottlenecks in work processes between teams and make suggestions for ongoing improvement

• Maintain or exceed established service level agreements and guidelines for timely resolution of queued transactions to minimize potential revenue losses

• Utilize standard SQL database queries to retrieve data and produce standardized reports

• Assist in identification and raising issues for bugs, fraud data, abnormalities, and technical problems

• Create and contribute to standard operating procedure documentation

• Assist with or perform special projects in a timely manner, as needed

• Consistently meet or exceed required performance standards

• Collaborate with peers and leadership by presenting fraud trends and sharing ideas and information in a constructive and positive manner

Who you are:

• Ability to make data driven decisions

• Demonstrated ability to handle several tasks and meet results with minimal error

• Ability to balance several projects and tasks simultaneously with minimal error and without losing track of important details or results

• Risk analysis or online fraud prevention experience a plus

• Strong internet research, Microsoft Office, and overall PC skills

• SQL experience is a plus

• Fluent in English, both verbal and written

• Requires shift work, including weekends, non-business hours and holidays

• Communicate effectively with peers as well as management

• Able to identify trends and find fraud patterns in large groups of data

The total cash range for this position in Seattle is $ 65,500 to $ 92,000 ). Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $ 105,000 , which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

The total cash range for this position in Springfield is $49,000.00 to $68,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $78,500.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
