ATSS has a client in Mobile, AL looking for First Class Outside Machinists

Machinist First Class (Outside)

• Technically proficient in tasks, work processes, and equipment operation.
• Accountable for completion of daily work assignments in safety, quality, schedule, and budget.
• Works under limited direct supervision.
• Knowledge of equipment, work processes and techniques used for outside machine operations.
• Must demonstrate the ability to read, interpret, and work from blueprints, job specifications, instruction manuals, manufacturer’s handbooks, change orders, and contract specifications.
• Must understand metric to English and English to metric conversions.
• Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and set-up requirements.
• Overhauls and repairs mechanical equipment as required.
• Sets up and uses rigging equipment such as chain falls, ratchet hoists, lifting straps, shackles, eye bolts, and cables.
• Prepare and install proper lockout/tagout to protect work.
• May be assigned to work any shift.
• Measures and fits metal and/or resin chocks for large machinery such as generators, main engines, reduction gears, etc.
• Installs and aligns main propulsion units, diesel/steam turbines, propellers, shafts and other major auxiliary shipboard equipment.

• 6" Dial Calipers.
• Metric Allen wrenches to 12mm.
• 4lb hammer.
• Combination metric wrenches (12mm-24mm).
• Metric sockets (12mm-24mm).
• Allen wrenches to 3/4".
• 16 oz ball-peen hammer.
• 48 oz machinist's hammer.
• 10" adjustable wrench.
• 12" adjustable wrench.
• 15" adjustable wrench.
• 1/2" drive ratchet and breaker-bar with 3/8"-1-1/4" sockets.
• 14" pipe-wrench.
• Set of screwdrivers, slot-drive and Philips.
• Set of punches with center punch.
• Combination wrenches, 3/8"-1-1/4".
• Toolbox with lock.
• 12' tape measure.
• Side cutter pliers (dykes).
• Set of machinist's wedges.
• Set of chisels (3/8"-3/4").
• Small tote-bag or small box.
• 6" steel scale.
• Knife
• Scraper
• Flashlight
• Hacksaw
• Bronze hammer.
• Feeler-gauge set (.0015"-.200").
• 12" channel-lock pliers.
• 6" tool-holder.
