Job description
-ch repairs on wood, leather and fabric. Finishing and coating repairs on various surfaces such as metal, stone, marble and granite. Knowledge of framing and furniture construction methods is useful along with upholstery sewing methods.
This position would also:
- Brush, spray, or hand-rub finishing ingredients, such as paint, oil, stain, or wax, onto and into wood grain; then apply lacquer or other sealers. Lift frame onto finishing table
- Disassemble items to prepare them for finishing using hand tools
- Examine furniture to determine the extent of damage and to decide on the best method for repair or restoration
- Fill and smooth cracks or depressions, remove marks and imperfections, and repair broken parts, using plastic or wood putty, glue, nails, and/or screws
- Inspects cases for runs and/or other imperfections.
Requirements:
-Experience working w/ finishes for all types of woods & veneers.
-Capable of mixing ingredients to obtain specified colors/shades to specifications or match existing finishes.
-Ability to achieve color consistency & color matches on a regular basis.
-Calculates mic ratios as per manufacturer's specs.
-Ability to apply primer, top coat paint, stain, & any wiped or spray-applied coatings to detailed parts as per customer specifications & industry quality standards.
-Skilled in removing excess material & prepares the surface for finishing.
-Must be familiar with & have operational knowledge of department tools.
-Familiar with reading a ruler & have basic math skills.
-Ability to work as a part of a team.
-Ability to keep a clean & organized work space & meet deadlines.
-Effective verbal communication skills.
-Must be professional & reliable.
-Wear required safety glasses & work shoes; works safely & reports unsafe conditions to Department supervisor. Also performs required stretching exercises.
-Performs other duties as required by supervisor.
