Job description
Our company is a high-tech manufacturing business in the Marlborough, Massachusetts area. We are seeking a Financial Controller to manage all financial controls, accounting transactions, analysis, and reporting responsibilities of the company.
This is a hybrid role, with approximately 4 days on-site in our company HQ.
Responsibilities will include:
- Prepare and report monthly and annual financial results, including budget variances and relevant notes.
- Coordinate with and provide GAAP-compliant accounting documents to CPA firm for audit, tax return preparation, and year end physical inventory count.
- Prepare the annual budgets and forecast updates working closely with department management.
- Manage cash flows with forecasts, including routine reports and advising senior management of cash needs.
- Manage a small accounting department for all accounting transactions, including receivables, payables, payroll, and fixed expenditures.
- Assist the financial accounting for government contracts and proposals, including preparation and submission of required financial information.
- Coordinate with manufacturing team on various reports, including cost accounting, inventory valuation, discarded scrap, obsolete inventory, and opportunities for reducing costs.
- Manage state sales/use tax and sales tax return submissions.
- Coordinate with human resources on 401(k), PTO, and new hire set up.
- Document, monitor and update accounting policies.
- Assist with ERP process and use.
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years in a financial or accounting leadership position. Experience as a Controller preferred.
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in accounting. CPA or CMA would be ideal.
- Experience in a manufacturing firm strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP required.
- Experience working with DCAA auditors and interacting with DCMA contracting officers would be helpful.
- Experience managing an accounting team and working with manufacturing, engineering, technology and sales teams.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work with multiple teams across the company.
