Pay: $28.10 - $32.00/hr

Description:

If you're an experienced Solar Technician with proven troubleshooting abilities, REC wants to hear from you! We're seeking a motivated self-starter who can lead, train, and teach other field personnel. This role will be based in McConnellsburg, PA, and require regular regional travel to address site demands.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

As a Field Service Technician, you will work remotely from home, traveling to distributed and utility-scale solar and battery storage facilities in your local region to carry out preventative and corrective maintenance. Along with these duties, you will be responsible for various technical and administrative tasks related to operating and maintaining a power facility. You will also coordinate and manage contractors involved in maintenance activities, as well as provide limited support for commissioning tasks. You will lead or support warranty claims processes with vendors when needed, and ensure that all work meets Environmental and Safety requirements. You must be able to work independently and as part of a team.

Desired Skills, Expertise and Competencies:

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience working with a range of electrical equipment, as well as a basic understanding of IT and remote communications equipment. Experience with Battery Energy Storage systems (BESS) is a plus. You should be able to prioritize and plan preventative and corrective maintenance for solar and battery storage equipment, while maintaining a strong understanding of general workplace safety and safety standards. Additionally, you should be comfortable working in a collaborative, cross-functional, and geographically diverse organization, with strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing. You should be detail-oriented, adaptable to new challenges, and able to summarize technical information for key decision makers. You must be results-oriented with a "do what I do" leadership philosophy, and possess technical proficiency with standard business software. You should be able to read, write, and understand English, as well as have knowledge of applicable safety and environmental regulations. You should demonstrate enthusiasm for problem-solving and adding value to the company, as well as a desire for personal growth and team development. You should be able to establish and maintain positive, professional working relationships, and support the development of a productive work culture and resilient team.

Education / Experience:

  • Technical degree or equivalent Journeyman qualifications
  • Three or more years of experience as a PV O&M solar technician
  • Five (5) or more years’ experience in a power plant
  • Demonstrated knowledge of electrical or mechanical fundamentals (single craft journeyman skills) such as electrical measurements, control circuits, and electrical theory application
  • Basic knowledge of operational characteristics of equipment and associated control devices installed in power facilities

Working Conditions:

  • Working outside and from home
  • Normal plant and/or office environment, including working at heights, high/low ambient temperatures and high/low humidity areas
  • Requires standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, twisting, climbing stairs and ladders, and entering plant equipment to access, inspect, or collect data on plant equipment
  • Requires use of personal protective safety equipment (respirators, safety glasses, hard hat, appropriate footwear, ear plugs, etc.)
  • May be required to work around rotating and energized equipment, hazardous materials and chemicals
  • Occasionally requires lifting as appropriate to perform duties and responsibilities
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Willingness to work overtime and respond to emergencies, as needed

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $28.10 - $32.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday
