- We are seeking a Mid-Level Facilities Mechanical Engineer, (Level 3) to join our Facilities and Asset Management team located in Auburn, Washington.
- This mechanical engineering position will provide design, construction and maintenance assistance for industrial building HVAC, steam/condensate, chilled water, compressed air, fire protection, mechanical rotating equipment, process piping, and assists with building automation and monitoring.
Position Responsibilities:
- Develops multi-discipline conceptual designs and cost estimates for equipment installations. analyzing intended use/occupancy, conducting code research, estimating resource costs/requirements, materials, equipment, and services, and developing a preliminary project schedule
- Reviews A&E provided engineering designs to assess compliance with customer requirements, facility standards, building codes and applicable laws by applying knowledge of construction principles, practices, and materials.
- Determines the cause of asset failures and reduction in asset capacity by using reliability tools and methods (e.g., life cycle analysis, condition-based maintenance, root cause failure methodology, mean time between failures, fault tree analysis, etc.).
- Provides engineering support to implement improvements in asset efficiency, availability, and maintainability; to include specification of new assets configurations, if needed
- Participates in multi-functional teams to integrate the activities of multiple engineering subject areas, technicians, outside consultants and government agencies.
- Reviews contractor proposals, construction documents, and jurisdictional requirements to meet project objectives, reviews contractor redlines, and resolves contractor requests for information
- Prepares final design construction drawings, documents specifications, and permit application packages in accordance with project parameters
- Assists in development and update of design standards and site-specific operating procedures in order to establish common practices.
- Supports the business way we make decisions by providing feedback to strategic, short-term, and long-term infrastructure planning; completes studies; analyzes current conditions and future requirements; recommending capital improvements, as needed
- Provides maintenance support for upgrades/repair of utility systems as well as assistance with building automation system monitoring and control upgrades.
- Ensures project information is retained and updated in drawing archives and equipment libraries.
- Participates in technical committees.
Bachelor's degree and typically 5 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a Master's degree with typically 3 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a PhD degree with experience in an engineering classification.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Bachelor of Science degree or greater in an engineering related field
- 3+ years of experience reading & understanding engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and specifications
- 3+ years of experience leading engineering teams
- 3+ years of experience using AutoCAD (or similar CAD package)
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- 5+ years of experience in a mechanical engineering role
- 5+ years of experience working with industrial building HVAC, chilled water, compressed air, fire protection, steam & condensate systems, process piping, mechanical rotating equipment
- 3+ years of experience with applicable codes e.g. NFPA, IBC, UPC, WSEC, and ASME
- 3+ years of experience with mechanical engineering design
