Idaho National Laboratory’s (INL) Materials and Fuels Complex (MFC) Manufacturing Support group is seeking forward-thinking professionals interested in exploring a career as a Fabrication Supervisor.

Our team works an on-site 4x10 schedule located at our MFC facility with every Friday off!

Responsibilities Include:

  • Manage the fabrication activities and personnel associated with the production of high-end/low-volume, complex components or prototypes.
  • Accomplish outcomes through the operation of standard and specialized stationary machining, welding, and fabrication equipment. Fabrication facilities include machining, cutting, welding, and mock-up assembly areas.
  • Supervise a multi-faceted organization of less than 30 employees, consisting of machinists, technicians, and welders.
  • Provide guidance, leadership, and direction to organization/staff.
  • Ensure personnel staffing levels, skill mix, work schedules, and budgets are developed and implemented to meet the organization's assigned work requirements, consistent with laboratory objectives. Handle performance reviews, salary and promotion actions, training, travel, hiring, transfers, terminations, and disciplinary actions.
  • Ensure services are environmentally friendly, convenient, clean, affordable, reliable, efficient, safe, and of the highest quality.
  • Ensure end product meets all customer requirements and applicable laboratory/industry codes and standards.
  • Provide leadership in areas of profit & loss management of group operations from a cost, quality, and delivery standpoint.
  • Continuously improve manufacturing processes, work instructions, training, and qualifications.
  • Develop the talent of employees through coaching, mentoring, and succession planning.
  • Cultivate relationships with customers to understand needs, respond to requests, and provide feedback in a timely manner.
  • Implement established policies and procedures and ensure all activities are performed in accordance with applicable documents by providing daily supervision and oversight.
  • Ensure the working environment is maintained in a safe, efficient, and clean condition.
  • Ensure work control and hazard mitigation are appropriately implemented for all activities in alignment with Integrated Safety Management & Laboratory Excellence policies.
  • Maintain qualifications for applicable job code.
  • Participate in and support meeting Fabrication Enterprise Interface Agreement (IAG) and applicable collective bargaining agreements (CBA).
  • Be responsive to all employees' needs and/or concerns.
  • Provide guidance, when called upon, in all phases of work.
  • Read and understand technical and industrial signs, manuals, and labels.
  • Maintain information on time sheets and other records.
  • Communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors.
  • Work independently to complete daily activities according to work schedule.
  • Understand and follow written and oral instructions.
  • Participate in work planning walk downs and labor hour estimating.
  • Perform material procurement duties as required.
  • Perform work to proper work control and clearly document and record work that performed.
  • Perform management assessments as assigned.
  • Perform CO/CAs as assigned.
  • Provide direction in carrying out and/or developing shop and organizational initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS


Minimum Requirements:

  • Must meet one of the following four criteria:
10 years of relevant work experience in machining, welding, and fabrication,
Associates Degree in computerized Machining Technology or equivalent, and 6 years of relevant work experience in machining, welding, and fabrication,
Bachelor's and 2 years of relevant work experience in machining, welding, and fabrication, or...
Advanced degree and 1 year of relevant work experience in machining, welding, and fabrication.
  • Experience in CNC machining, welding, and quality assurance.
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Knowledge of Mastercam/programming of 5-axis CNC or industry equivalent.

  • Salary Grade 210 ($93,492 - $154,212)
