NACPM EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR JOB DESCRIPTION

NACPM Vision, purpose, values and commitments: NACPM envisions a primary birth care system in our country where all birthing people access care through a midwife, where birth place is the choice of the family, and where all childbearing people and their babies have the same chance to be healthy. NACPM is the only professional association in the United States for Certified Professional Midwives (CPMs) whose expertise is in providing midwifery care in community settings - such as homes, community clinics, and freestanding birth centers.
NACPM’s purpose is to be a powerful, collective voice for CPMs. We strengthen and support excellence in the profession and influence birth health policy to ensure that all childbearing people and babies have a healthy start.

Summary of Responsibilities: The Executive Director of NACPM leads the association towards achieving its vision, purpose, values and commitments. The Executive Director is responsible for the overall management of NACPM including all personnel, operations, financial management, strategic planning, project development, marketing, and fundraising efforts of the organization, to support and implement the mission. Additionally, the Executive Director holds primary responsibility for developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with stakeholders, and serving as a policy advocate for the integration of CPMs in the maternity care system.

About NACPM: NACPM is a small, virtual, non-profit professional membership organization.
The Executive Director is currently the only full-time staff person. Personnel also include a part-time Operations Manager and part-time Chapter Program Manager, and other consultants hired on an as needed basis. The Executive Director reports to the Board of Directors, a committed and volunteer group of CPMs and CPM advocates. Currently, the other staff member is a part-time Operations Manager.

Within the national perinatal health landscape, NACPM plays a vital role in representing CPMs. The incoming Executive Director has an exciting opportunity to shape and grow the future of this vital professional association.
