Lighthouse for the Blind of the Palm Beaches is seeking a visionary, inspiring, motivated, and highly experienced leader to be its next Executive Director. This individual is responsible for the overall success of fulfilling the organization’s mission by providing leadership and overseeing the day-to-day operations with a focus on organizational excellence. Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, this individual must be passionate about a commitment to accountability to ensure the continued health, growth, and sustainability of the organization.

Essential Job Responsibilities

Strategic Thinking/Leadership

  • A ‘big picture thinker’ who works collaboratively with the board to provide leadership and direction skilled at effectively leading through periods of significant change and growth
  • Successful orchestrating strategic processes and leading a team to execute organizational goals and to ensure accountability and high standards for deliverables
  • Ensure the implementation of a diversity of programs and services that meet the requirements of all grants and funding sources
  • Acts as an ambassador on behalf of the organization serving as the primary spokesperson and representative within the community
  • Builds appropriate rapport and effective relations both internally and externally. Relates well to people of diverse backgrounds and disabilities and exhibits genuine warmth and approachable behavior

Fiscal Responsibility and Resource Development

  • Responsible for the fiscal integrity of the organization – with evidence of success in developing, managing, and growing an annual operating budget. Strong business management skills required
  • Provides a creative approach to further diversify funding streams and earned revenue
  • Understands program income, trusts, endowments, grants, major gift fundraising and all aspects of development
  • Maintains compliance with all applicable laws governing the organization

Skills/Knowledge Required

  • Bachelor’s Degrees in business, finance or equivalent from an accredited college or university
  • Possess a high level of emotional intelligence with excellent communication skills with ability to build trust and credibility with the staff, board of directors, donors, clients, community partners and media
  • Results-driven mindset – improves and sustains the organization’s performance, develops, and follows through on priorities, delegates appropriately, holds staff accountable, and makes sound decisions
  • Proven experience in talent management – maintains appropriate staffing requirements for efficient operations, maintains a strong culture and work climate that attracts and retains staff, and drives the organization’s mission, which includes annual reviews, raises, and approving hires
  • Proven management experience implementing best management practices; and ensures day-to-day operations are aligned with strategic goals
  • Proven experience working with a board of directors and board committees, informing, assessing, and addressing issues that affect the organization
  • Strong networking experience within Palm Beach County
  • Has a passion for the mission of the organization
  • Additional roles and responsibilities as determined by the Board of Directors

This is an exempt, full-time, salaried position located in West Palm Beach, FL. Salary is commensurate with experience. We offer a competitive benefits package that includes paid time off, a 401K plan, medical, vision, dental, life and access to other insurance plans. Pay: $80,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
