Job description
The North Bay Business Journal, a division of Sonoma Media Investments, is seeking an Event Content Coordinator to join our team. The Event Content Coordinator reports directly to the NBBJ publisher. The primary responsibility of this position is to assist in the development of high-quality content for North Bay Business Journal events and award programs. This is a collaborative role that works across the entire Sonoma Media Investments company including the event, advertising, digital, editorial, and creative teams. Willing to provide training to a highly motivated person who finds the passion and interest needed to thrive in this role.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development of high-quality content for The North Bay Business Journal events and programs including pre-interviewing panelists, developing event panel questions, writing scripts, scheduling, and calendaring event guests and sponsors.
- Manage the North Bay Business Journal award events process from start to finish including the nomination and judging process, contacting awardees and applicants, collecting winner profiles and photos, ordering awards, preparing award ceremony scripts, and correspondence with events sponsors.
- Work directly with the Sonoma Media Investments event team to identify deliverables and deadlines, communicate expectations, ensure time sensitive deadlines are met, attend event content meetings; documenting and distributing meeting notes, action items, and assist with event logistics.
- Work with publisher and events director to develop, plan, and produce highly profitable and well-organized events.
- Write engaging and compelling copy, with the ability to tell stories across social media platforms and event scripts.
- Develop and maintain effective relations with key sponsors, advertisers, event participants and speakers.
- Assist with event promotion by providing event details, awardee and panel information and posting event details to social media platforms.
- Assist in the set up and take down at events.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or related event experience required.
- Must have a valid California State Driver’s License and proof of insurance.
- Must have a reliable transportation.
- Savvy with Microsoft Office Suite and social media platforms.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain professionalism, exercise excellent judgment, tact, confidentiality, and diplomacy in all interactions.
- Enthusiastic team player with a positive and flexible attitude who can work both independently and collaboratively.
- Be able to independently troubleshoot and problem-solve, as well as identify when to escalate issues when necessary.
- Proven record of responsibility and must be able to demonstrate the ability to work independently.
- Problem-solving skills relating to event planning, customer service and technical difficulties.
- Be able to work under deadline pressure.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, analytical, written, and persuasive skills.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
- Must be flexible regarding work hours.
