A DAY IN THE LIFE
The Environmental Technical Administrator is responsible for environmental project support - supporting operations with technical editing, proposal support, and administrative support to project teams. The ideal candidate is well-written in the English language, a team-player, and able to work with multiple service lines effectively. This position is comprised of approximately 50% technical editing and marketing support, and 50% general administrative support.
As a key member of the Pacific Northwest team, this role will be responsible for a full range of activities including:
  • Assists external callers and visitors as well as internal contacts at all levels of the organization.
  • Orders and coordinates corporate office related supplies, services, events, manager and conference room calendars, conference room reservations and travel itineraries.
  • Review, format, and edit a variety of documents, including reports, proposals, technical memoranda, letters, cost estimate spreadsheets, procedures, manuals, and marketing and related materials
  • Comprehensive editing: reviews both content (for completeness, accuracy, and appropriate language) and form (for organization, visual design, and usability)
  • Copyediting: ensures that the document is mechanically correct (spelling, punctuation, and grammar) and stylistically consistent
  • Proofreading: compares the final version of the document with the marked-up version to make sure that all corrections have been made
  • Support writing and editing assignments as needed for business development and sales activities
  • Participate in the design and development of marketing brochures, conference materials, public relations announcements and other materials.
  • Create and uphold corporate standards for all documents including style guides for various Departments
  • Supports operations through production of external reports, including formatting, binding, CD compilation, and shipping coordination.
  • Ensure documents meet editorial and customer specifications and adhere to standards for quality, graphics, format, and style.
  • Select or recommend use of layouts, graphics, drawings, tables, exhibits, and illustrations or charts to amplify or clarify publication objectives
  • Periodically review document templates to assess need for format or content updates
  • Periodically create and deliver brief instructional presentations to staff on topics related to language, writing, or corporate style
  • Remain current on new developments in technical writing, editing, and publishing, including technological enhancements that may affect the company
  • Maintains confidentiality at all times.
  • Exercises safe work practices by following all Company safety rules and OSHA regulations, including attendance at all required safety training programs.
  • Participates in Company’s continuous improvement programs and provides support to team efforts.
  • Keeps up-to-date and current on industry trends by completing formal training, reviewing professional publications, and attending professional workshops.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
YOUR EXPERTISE AND SKILLS
To perform this job successfully, individuals must be able to perform each duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • High School Diploma or GED (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
  • Technical knowledge of the services provided in assigned area is preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software, Google and/or PC programs.
  • Ability to interface with cross-functional teams and all levels of personnel/management.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Solid organization and time/project management skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to work independently manage multiple responsibilities (i.e. self-starter, self-motivated).
  • English language competency.
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of computer aided software (Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, AutoCAD, ArcGIS, etc.).
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions to present to supervisors.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee may be required to spend long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers, and is regularly required to sit, talk, and hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel. There may be occasional lifting (overhead, waist level) from the floor of supplies and materials weighing no more than 30 pounds. The work may involve some bending, standing or walking. Out of office site visits could potentially have more strenuous physical demands.
  • Work environment will vary greatly depending on nature of assigned tasks.
  • Possible work environments could include normal office working conditions in a well-lit, climate-controlled environment with minimal exposure to contaminants.
