By joining the Division of Water/Field Operation Branch/Central Office as an Environmental Scientist 2 in Franklin County, you will have the opportunity to serve the division as a Complaints Coordinator.
Holders of the Environmental Scientist II, Complaints Coordinator position will complete tasks such as:
- Maintain receipt of complaints by various media (typically phone, email) and gather detailed information of the stated environmental issues.
- Conduct detailed data entry of environmental complaints and reported issues into the TEMPO database.
- Dispatch complaints for investigation to the division's appropriate regional office.
- Maintain and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and internal business rules for the proper processing of complaints received by the division.
- Maintain contact lists, TEMPO Incident Module SOPs for processing complaints, conducts TEMPO incident database testing and incident database training.
- Perform as backup to Central Office staff on fiscal year data entry and tracking.
- Other duties as assigned.
Desired candidates possess the following requisite skills or experience applicable to the position:
- Knowledge of the TEMPO database or past data entry experience.
- Excellent communication skills and be adept at detailed note taking.
- Experience working with various means of data entry, Excel, Word, and Microsoft Outlook.
- Enjoy communicating with a wide variety of people including those from government, citizens and the regulated community.
Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in a natural, biological or physical science OR Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree including or supplemented by 20 semester hours in a natural, biological or physical science.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: One year of experience in natural resources, environmental control, or a related area.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Graduate study in a natural, biological, or physical science will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Experience in natural resources, environmental control, engineering, or a related area will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): NONE
Working Conditions
Work is typically performed in an office setting. Incumbents in this class may perform work in the field with frequent travel on a statewide basis. An incumbent in the position may be subject to adverse weather conditions, exposure to snake and insect bites, water-borne pathogens, broken glass, and rusty metal in streams. Electrocution from electro-fishing equipment is possible.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
