Entry Level Heavy Equipment Operator

Stony Point Rock Quarry is hiring a full-time entry level Equipment Operator to join our team in Cotati, California!
Qualified candidates will have basic maintenance skills and at least 1 year of recent (within past 2 years) full-time experience operating equipment such as a skid-steer, water truck, front-end loader, or haul truck.
This position will support our company in a range of tasks to assist site mining operations (mining, transporting, stockpiling, and sorting material) as well as daily plant and yard maintenance. The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude, great work habits, and the ability to work as a team as well as independently.
Essential Functions:
- Responsible for the safe and effective operation of assigned equipment (i.e. water truck and skid steer).
- Participate in site and plant cleanup (i.e. shoveling, weed-eating, recycle picking line), maintenance, and repair activities.
- Responsible for performing equipment inspection and minor maintenance (pre-, post operation).
- Ability to maintain alertness to audio and visual signs during operation of heavy equipment, in order to make timely and sound decisions while operating equipment.
- Adhere to all safety regulations, and site policies and operating procedures.
- Regular, reliable, and predictable attendance is required.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Skills:
- Must have at least 1 year of recent (within the last 2 years) full-time experience in any of the following pieces of equipment: water truck, skid-steer, front-end loader, haul truck.
- Must be able to climb into and out of heavy equipment multiple times per day.
- Must be able to work from heights while harnessed for fall protection and safety.
- Welding and fabrication experience is a plus, but not required.
- Must demonstrate good communication skills with the ability to speak and understand English.
- Ability to work in a safe and efficient manner, knowing where other objects are in relation to a piece of equipment being operated.

Physical Requirements: This position works outdoors with exposure to the weather, chemicals, odors and fumes; bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing ladders and stairs; working on elevated platforms; pushing, pulling, moving moderate to heavy objects; ability to operate electrical and mechanical equipment; standing for long periods of time; walking; and driving a motorized piece of heavy equipment in order to perform the essential functions.
Minimum Requirements:
- Must be 18 years or older and provide evidence of employment eligibility in the U.S.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment screening (pre-employment physical exam including drug testing (includes screening for Marijuana).
- To operate a SCI company vehicle: A valid California driver’s license and a driving record with 2 points or less.
Compensation & Benefits:
- This position is a non-exempt full-time position.
- This position is located in Cotati, CA. This position is not remote.
- The pay range for this position is $23 - $26 per hour.
- We offer weekly pay, paid holidays, PTO, health benefits (medical, dental, & vision) with employer contribution of 100% for employee and 75% for eligible dependents. We offer Long Term Disability and Life Insurance at no cost to the employee. We also have 401(k) with a guaranteed 3% Safe Harbor employer contribution.
