NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs
If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.
If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.
Salary Range
$88,600 - $146,200
- Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

We are seeking a motivated and experienced nonproliferation System Research Analyst for traditional and emerging nonproliferation threats.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
- Perform work within a technical science and engineering environment in conjunction with Sandia staff on interdisciplinary projects that involve applying integrated technical judgment—which requires using the scientific method to recognize and formulate problems, to collect data through observation and experimentation, and to formulate and test hypotheses about the uses and deployment of advanced technologies in support of US nonproliferation, arms control, and WMD security goals.
- Provide decision insight to customers in complex domains to advance nonproliferation mission space.
- Conduct systematic analysis of international affairs, foreign relations, and scientific and engineering principles, advanced concepts and technologies for nuclear security, international sanction's enforcement, multilateral agreements, and international export controls.
- Create new capabilities and approaches to seemingly intractable nonproliferation problems.
- Work with international multilateral and academic organizations including preparing position papers, demonstrated success in securing project funding through BAA proposal writing, attending and presenting at international conferences and meetings, developing briefing materials, and briefing high-level officials.
Some domestic and international travel will be required.
Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.
Qualifications We Require
- Advanced degree (Masters/PhD) in Science, Engineering, Law, or Social Sciences, plus two (2) years of relevant experience.
- Experience in the following:
- Nonproliferation, regional security, China threats, and/or malign foreign influence.
- Preparing and delivering briefing materials for senior officials.
- Developing proposals for external funding.
- Ability to obtain and maintain DOE Q-level security clearance.

- Ability to cultivate new contacts and preserve or improve existing relationships with customers, partners, or the technical community.
- Active DOE Q-level or DOD equivalent security clearance.

Security Clearance
Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. This Limited Term Employee (LTE) position is a temporary position for one year term, which may be renewed at Sandia's discretion up to a maximum of seven years.
