Description

The Engineering Project Team Leader leads programs and projects which involve multi-functional, distributed teams and suppliers to successfully plan and execute product development programs within the established CTCT NPI process. Expectations from this individual include developing and executing program/project plans, controlling scope, identifying, and proactively managing risk, and providing updates on status. The Engineering Project Team Leader is responsible for the overall success and management of the project/program which requires expertise in each of the different functional areas involved. Reports to the Peoria Engineering Manager.

Job Duties

  • Responsible for collaboration with CAT product groups and machine system organizations.
  • Responsible for ensuring that programs and projects managed meet established schedules, cost targets, and contractual objectives by effectively managing resources, team dynamics, and change control processes while providing contingency plans and issue resolutions as required.
  • Owner of the program schedule and must work with each of the multi-functional areas to ensure the product is introduced on time.
  • Develop a clear understanding of the project scope and project deliverables outlined in requirements documents and provided by project stakeholders.
  • Directs the development of project documentation including NPVs, system diagrams, specifications, DFMEAs, Engineering Drawings, RoHS Certs, PFMEAs, Control Plans and project milestone presentations.
  • Keep project milestones updated in our resource and project management software.
  • Communicate regularly with management regarding the status of current projects.
  • Proactively monitor project needs, identify project risks, and put in place and execute on mitigation plans.
  • Organize and lead regular scheduled project meetings to identify required actions and its timely completion.
  • Coordinate with CAT Manufacturing, internal teams, and suppliers to ensure smooth NPI to production transition.
  • Lead continuous product improvement activities.
  • Lead TRL projects in the focus area of positioning and controls.
  • Ensure software and system quality issues are prioritized and solved in a timely manner
  • Work with people from many different backgrounds and cultures, internally and externally

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or other relevant degree/ industry experience
  • 8+ years direct experience in an engineering environment
  • Familiarity with electronic control systems, components, and software
  • Proven experience with routine project communications.
  • Leadership qualities with high energy that demonstrates the ability to work well with diverse groups of people in a way that motivates them to achieve common objectives.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly developed analytical, problem solving and negotiation skills.
  • Highly organized with excellent time management skills and a flexible approach to working in a changing environment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with aggressive deadlines.

Top Candidates will also have

  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience leading cross-functional project teams and organizations.
  • A recognized certification in Project Management is desirable.
  • Thorough understanding of grade control workflows and applications
  • Experience with positioning and controls systems
  • Strong customer centric mindset, high initiative, results oriented, high level of interpersonal skills and an effective writer and oral communicator
  • Proven experience in backlog planning and scheduling.
  • Proven hands-on technical project management experience with the ability to handle multiple projects concurrently is required.
  • Proven experience in proactively identifying and resolving issues early while maintaining relationships.

Additional Information

The location for this position is Mossville, IL. Locations in Dayton, OH, Tucson, AZ, and Decatur, IL would also be considered.

Domestic relocation assistance is available for this position.

Travel (including international) is less than 10%.
