Energy Associate
REPORTS TO: Energy Area Sales Manager STATUS: Exempt
PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT
Under the direction of the Area Sales Manager, accomplishes training required to gain the knowledge and skill in sales and delivery of refined fuels, propane, and lubricants in a manner that is safe, efficient, and timely.
Under the direction of a Service Technician, accomplishes the training required to gain the knowledge and skill to perform propane system installations in a safe, efficient, and timely manner.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Drives truck to deliver Propane & Refined fuel to customers’ homes or places of business.
- Performs service-related propane and refined fuel installations.
- Replaces outdated propane regulators at customers’ homes or places of business.
- Drives truck to deliver lubricants to customers’ homes or places of business.
- Collects accounts from customers and records transactions on customer sales.
- Calls on prospective customers to solicit new business.
- Calls on customers to communicate contracts, fill-up, and marketing programs.
- Performs general maintenance and upkeep of assigned location(s).
- Prepares order forms and sales contracts.
- Informs regular customers of new products or services.
- Handles complaints promptly.
- Obtains customer signatures on receipt for pickup or delivery when required.
- Completes regular activity reports.
- Maintains company equipment according to company standards and performs routine maintenance on the equipment.
- Adheres to the uniform policy and maintains the appropriate professional image.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
Performs all other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Educations and Experience
Normally requires a High School diploma or equivalent. Prefer route delivery and sales experience to demonstrate organization and time management skills.

- Energy Trainee must be willing to move within the geography assigned when employment opportunity is presented.
- Understanding of energy products along with sales ability, account collection, record keeping, and reporting.
- Demonstrated math skills and the ability to calculate discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume, etc.
- Ability to operate the computer using ticket-making software.
- Must have and maintain a valid CDL license, be insurable to operate the required vehicle, and have the ability to travel independently.
- Must pass a pre-hire drug and alcohol test and enroll in the company’s random drug and alcohol testing program.
- Must attend CETP training courses and achieve a passing score.
