Job Summary:

The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR) is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated individual to fill the Employee Relations Specialist position. This individual assists management and staff by providing professional-level guidance regarding intermediate-level issues pertaining to employee discipline, equal opportunity, performance, health-related absence and work assignment issues. Also with preparing fact-finding and professional correspondence regarding departmental policies, employee discipline, employee grievances, equal opportunity issues and other correspondence.

Job Duties:

- Reviews disciplinary letters, and assists in the grievance process by reviewing required documents, time-frames, issuing grievance control numbers and uploading related information/documents into the Employee Relations Tracking System (ERTS)
- Develops and prepares Employee Relations (ER)/Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) reports, maintains the unit tracking logs, forms and assists with developing standard work
- Assists the Human Resources Supervisor and Senior Employee Relations/EEO Specialist with preparing fact-finding and preparing professional correspondence regarding departmental policies, employee discipline, employee grievances, equal opportunity issues and other correspondence
- Provides guidance regarding intermediate-level issues pertaining to employee discipline, equal opportunity, performance, health-related absence and work assignment issues
- Drives on State business
- Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:
- Laws, rules, regulations and procedures pertaining to personnel administration, Arizona Department of Administration (ADOA) Personnel Rules, Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO)
- Amended Civil Rights Act of 1964
- Arizona state government operations, structure and/or functions within ADCRR
- Personal computers and various software applications sufficient to perform daily tasks
- Business English and proper grammar

Selective Preference(s):

- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or a closely related field and two (2) years of experience as a Human Resources Analyst or equivalent experience
- Relevant HR Certification

Pre-Employment Requirements:

Requires possession of, and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12).
Employment is contingent on the selected applicant passing a background investigation.

Positions in this classification participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS).
