Job description

The Empowerment Specialist provides support to employees in the areas of success through employment, financial management, future planning, education, and other non-work related employee needs. Bilingual in Spanish is a plus!

RESPONSIBILITY LEVEL:

Implements strategies to achieve the goals for the organization and by providing support to employees[KL1] in the areas of success through employment, financial management, future planning, education, and other non-work related employee needs. Implements, revises, and sustains policies, procedures and programs. Typically works on projects and initiatives that span 3 – 12 months.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

1. Assess employee needs to determine nature and degree of services and refer them to appropriate services.

2. Initiate and maintain contact with key community partners including Goodwill staff (community agencies, educational institutions, financial liaisons, and employers) to enhance the menu of support services provided to employees.

3. Establish measurement plans for evaluating and improving the impact and effectiveness of Employee Empowerment program. Monitor evaluation feedback to create relevant program metrics and develop improvement plans when needed.

4. Work cooperatively with management, and support personnel to maximize program outcomes in alignment to Goodwill’s mission and guiding principles.

5. Maintains accurate and timely records related to program services and other measures/metrics.

6. Have working knowledge of different employee positions, their demands and requirements.

7. Communicate effectively with management and human resources as required. Maintain working knowledge of applicable community resources and provide necessary referrals as needed.

8. Maintains confidentiality, safeguarding information as needed.

9. Project and Change Management: Effectively plans and manages own work to reliably complete routine job responsibilities and special assignments. May serve as a team member or subject matter expert on formal projects or within the department. Effectively engages in change affecting her/him, communicating appropriately with supervisor. Follows through on learning, skill building, and practice necessary to adapt to change.

10. Problem Solving: Light supervision; works independently. Periodic review of work by manager or senior coworker. Solves problems of moderate to advanced complexity; able to identify root cause, interpret data and resolve issues.

11. Technical Skill: Understands and applies professional principles and skills within area of specialization to modify processes to resolve situations.

12. Community Engagement: Champions Goodwill’s community engagement initiatives and serves as an ambassador for Goodwill in the wider community.

13. Responsible for completing other duties/responsibilities as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

1. Two years of college education or experience equivalency, and a minimum of 3 years’ experience.

2. Valid driver’s license required.

3. Knowledge of community resources and experience with nonprofit organizations is desired.

4. Experience in a retail environment[KL2], case management, job coaching, recruiting or related field preferred.

5. Must be available to work a flexible schedule beyond normal business hours.

PHYSICAL/SENSORY DEMANDS:

Occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 20 pounds. Moves about to accomplish tasks. Remain stationary sit/stand for extended periods of time. Repetitive use of hands and vision required while using computer keyboard and work with electronic information. Ability to hear and communicate on phone and in person, travel required.

Pay: $18.22 - $22.00 per hour
