This is an exciting opportunity (full-time vacancy) for an emergency management professional to work as part of the Office of Emergency Management to perform critical work for the County of Santa Barbara. The Emergency Manager is a management level position and will report directly to the Director of Emergency Management. This position is part of the team of emergency managers that rotate responsibility for duty officer coverage. This assignment involves an astute understanding of local, state and federal regulations, adult training methods, emergency management concepts, and local government response in relation to declared emergencies and recovery programs. The Emergency Managers provide leadership and coordination during emergencies and disasters with a whole community approach. Day to day this position is assigned program responsibilities such as the development and maintenance of emergency planning documents, development and facilitation of training and exercises, application to and management of grants, as well as volunteer coordination, mass care planning, access and functional needs planning, emergency alerting systems coordination, EOC functionality and software systems, and other duties as assigned. All Managers provide some level of public presentation, meeting facilitation and instruction on a regular basis. Successful candidates must be able to work independently, formulate, plan and monitor complex and difficult programs, and be a contributing team member.
