Salary: Placement on Administrator Pay Scale (determined by prior experience)

Job Summary:
Responsible for the implementation and administration of the educational program at the elementary school level. All tasks fall under the responsibility of the principal, directly or indirectly supervising all school personnel.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Model to students, colleagues and the Bellevue Christian School community an attitude of Christ-like servanthood, cooperation, accuracy and accountability.
- Assume responsible Christian and professional leadership of the elementary school and its program.
- Develop and maintain a school that is distinctively Christian in its perspective and meets the learning goals for students.
- Develop and maintain school programs that fulfill the school’s mission and are academically sound for the student and parent body it serves.
- Be prepared to answer questions with a spirit of patience and honesty. Conflicts that arise are to be resolved utilizing the appropriate school policies.
Leadership
- Provide both spiritual and instructional leadership.
- Lead the faculty in continuous curriculum development, and in planning and adapting courses of study which meet the needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
- Appraise the effectiveness of the curriculum, the instructional materials, and physical facilities.
- Work with the faculty continuously to refine the aims and objectives of Christian education on the elementary level.
- Be the agent of educational change and innovation.
- Keep abreast of the major current trends in education in general, and in Christian education in particular.
- Lead the faculty in identifying and solving the school's educational problems.
- Develop a sound program for the spiritual and academic in-service growth of the faculty.
- Lead faculty and committee meetings.
- See that scheduling is done well, using teachers and facilities efficiently.
- See that the school is well-equipped and well-supplied to provide quality education.
- Provide specific information for long range planning.
- Serve as a contributing partner to the leadership team at BCS.
Public Relations
- Work with the superintendent and development department to maintain a good program for interpreting the school to its own constituency and to the general public.
- See that the public image of the school is one of prompt service, cooperation, and courteous treatment for all constituents.
- Fairly investigate and evaluate all complaints and render judgments which consider the rights and responsibilities of all concerned.
- Work with various parent groups in providing student activities.
Administration
- Work with the superintendent and the finance department to manage the campus budget.
- Responsible for hiring and maintaining appropriate staff and faculty levels at the campus. Follow all appropriate hiring procedures.
- Conduct on-going formal and informal reviews. Evaluate faculty and staff performance, promoting personal and professional growth.
- Assist and work with other departments and administrators as needed with on-going projects.
- Conduct regular faculty/staff meetings and attend administrative meetings.
- Observe deadlines, submit proper paperwork and forms as appropriate.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Directly responsible for the supervision of all faculty and support staff of the Mack campus
Qualifications (required):
- 5 years’ teaching in an elementary school.
- Washington State Certification or working toward the acquisition of administrative credentials.
Qualifications (desired):
- Some administrative experience
Work Requirements
- Work is generally performed inside, sitting within an office environment, with standard office equipment, however the administrator is expected to be able to walk around campus on a regular basis as the job requires.
- Occasional bending on a regular basis.
- Occasional lifting (less than 20 pounds) may be required.
- Reliable vehicle needed to travel to between campuses (between 5 – 20 miles) approximately 1-2 times a month or as needed for meetings and administrative duties.

- Effective communication, both verbally and written; attention to detail; office and file organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently within a team environment.
- Must possess strong communication and relational skills.
- Flexibility to provide fill in for classroom teachers and assistants as needed.
Work Requirements:
- Work may be performed in both indoor and outdoor environments.
- Must be able to consistently sit, kneel, and bend as required.
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds as required.
- Ability to stand and walk for several hours at a time is required.
- May be outside in various weather (including cold/damp weather)
