DSHS FFA Fiscal Specialist 1

The Facilities, Finance, and Analytics Administration (FFA), Consolidated Business Services are looking to hire a Fiscal Specialist located in Tacoma, WA.

You’ll provide administrative support in processing and record-keeping involved with payroll time and attendance for DSHS administrations.

This position is eligible for a hybrid telework schedule, which requires a minimum of 1 day in the office per week. This may vary depending on business needs. Pierce County employees are eligible to receive an Orca Card for transportation needs.

Some of what you'll do


  • Process fiscal calculations, reconciliations/audits, and entries of time and attendance source documents into the statewide Leave Tracker and Human Resources Management System payroll system
  • Conduct compliance reviews to verify, apply rules and regulations, and work with managers to problem solve time and attendance issues
  • Provide consultation and technical assistance to managers, supervisors, and employees on the appropriate use and processing of leave and leave balances in relation to eligibility criteria for the various types of leave programs
  • Conduct audits, analysis, and reconciliation of payroll and time and attendance records
  • Provide support on time and attendance issues and be the point of contact for Field Offices and Payroll office
  • Assist employees and residents with Resident account services
  • Payroll processing of leave and attendance
  • Provide fiscal calculation of part-time hours, part-time holiday accruals, shift differential, overtime, standby, Leave Without Pay, schedule changes, and entry into Leave Tracker and the HRMS payroll system
  • Maintain resident purchasing and receiving records and resolve problems
We’re looking for someone with:
At least 3 years of fiscal record keeping experience or equivalent education/experience.

What we're looking for:
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles and the ability to apply accounting techniques
  • Ability to process large quantities of fiscal data with accuracy and efficiency
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to learn specialized computer systems
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; basic math skills, and the use of a 10 key calculator
