GRADE: Non-Exempt; Regular Full-time

LOCATION: Eglin AFB, FL

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The Draft/CAD Operator performs drafting work using a computer, requiring knowledge and skill in drafting methods, procedures, and techniques, prepares drawings of structures, facilities, land profiles, mechanical and electrical equipment, pipelines, duct systems, and similar equipment, systems, and assemblies. Drawings are used to communicate engineering ideas, design, and information. This operator uses recognized systems of symbols, legends, shadings, and lines having specific meanings in drawings.

GENERAL DUTIES: Candidate will be given instructions either written or verbally on how to prepare various drawings using AutoCAD drawing package to show building and/or site layouts, electrical schematics, mechanical layouts used to construct various test equipment. Work requires a general knowledge of electrical and mechanical nomenclature, CAD techniques, and conventional drafting practices. Must have a good understanding of scaling and mathematical computations. Simple revisions of drawings may be assigned with verbal instructions on what needs to be done.

OTHER DUTIES: Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor as necessary to support contract/mission support requirements in job-related areas.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Must be a graduate of an accredited technical school or college with an AS Degree or certificate with basic understanding of Computer-Aided Design (CAD). Must possess the basic knowledge to prepare drawings that include various views, sectional profiles, detail drawings, and assembly/subassembly drawings from sketches, marked up prints, layouts, and models. Must have the ability to make arithmetical computations using standard formulas for such things as dimensions, scale, and area. Must be able to prepare notes such as descriptions for revisions using standard abbreviations and engineering terms.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Candidate must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Supports E-OMS operational objectives; observes company Quality, Safety, Environmental, Security and Administrative policies. Supports Process Improvement.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is normally accomplished indoors but occasionally work assignments may require outside activity under extreme environmental conditions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Will be subject to substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Must be able to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer terminal. May be required to lift, pull, or carry items of no more than 20lbs.
