Job Description
Provides care for patients under the direction of the provider in the clinic setting. Works with patients to collect and record important health information data. Incorporates patient education into the plan of care. Works as a part of the physician and nursing team. At the direction of the practitioner they in real-time accurately document the events and decision-making into the EHR in a manner that results in appropriate medical charting. The clinical documentation specialist will place orders as prescribed, and identify past medical history components, which are necessary for documentation such as images or studies pertinent to the patient’s care. The documentation specialist presents the documents to the provider. Documentation specialists also complete clerical activities necessary to assist with processing of physician orders for tests, medications and clinical care.
Minimum Requirements
1.High School Diploma or Equivalent
2.Training/Degree in Medical terminology
3.Current BCLS certification upon hire & maintained for continued employment
4.Strong organizational skills, excellent communication skills, prioritization skills, the ability to work well under stress with the ability to think critically and problem solve
5.Considerable ability to provide superior customer service skills
Proficient in Microsoft applications and basic computer skills Demonstrated the knowledge and skills necessary to document patient care as dictated by the practitioner including but not limited to; a basic knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, disease processes, signs and symptoms, medications, and ancillary lab and tests. Demonstrate an ability to maintain confidentiality and privacy in accordance with governing HIPPA regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
1.Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program or Graduation from an accredited LPN program
Current LPN License – state of Missouri or Active RMA (Registered Medical Assistant ) or (Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant) Certification
