Briggs & Stratton is seeking our next Director Sales, Global Aftermarket - an experienced sales leader with a hunter mentality who is driven by growing their P&L - doing what it takes to grow beyond the AOP. You'll step out of the day to day to lead the organization with a growth mentality in a global role with significant visibility throughout the organization. This position will be based out of our Corporate Office in Wauwatosa.
Position Description
Plans and guides the work of a sales group. Defines and implements marketing strategies and sales tactics to achieve budgeted sales, market share, and profit growth goals. Represents the unit to clients, the public, and/or senior management internally. Engages in strategic planning of the allocation of work in complex business processes. Reports the unit's work to management and manages employee performance and professional development.
Key Areas:
- This role will have global sales responsibilities for business units: Power, Turf & Consumer and Energy Solutions; including sales to Power Distributors in United States, Power Systems in Canada, Europe through regional leaders, and rest of the world.
- Through a combination of direct and indirect reports this leader will direct business development and growth with commercial & rental customers.
- Day to day full accountability to meet global sales and margin forecasts, and annual operating plan targets/stretch targets.
Job Responsibilities
- Develops plans to meet overall goals for sales, market share and profit.
- Participates in strategic and long-term planning for department, branch, or division.
- Leads development of sales methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for projects, programs, and people
- Ensures budgets and schedules meet corporate requirements.
- Works with Sales Managers to analyze trends and potential within existing and new markets.
- Supports new customer development in assigned market and ensures excellent support for customers.
- Interacts regularly with executives and/or major customers.
- Establishes entrance into new markets and supports the sales team’s effort by creating a support strategy.
- Interfaces and represents the sales team and provide sales-based customer feedback on marketing and product development initiatives and provides detailed information back to the sales organization on the new marketing and product development initiatives.
- Directs the work of groups of employees (leads through managers).
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Education
- Bachelors Degree in Business or related field
- MBA preferred
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 10 years of experience in sales or related field, preferably in a manufacturing environment
- Minimum five years of people management experience
- Analytical and Strategic thinker
- Ability to travel domestically about 10%
