Overview of the Position:
The Program Director is a member of the School of Business and Accounting’s team of academic administrator’s and its full-time faculty. Under the supervision of the Associate Vice President of the department, this Academic Director will lead the School’s efforts in development and execution of effective sports management curricula to ensure the highest quality academic experience for students and faculty. The academic administrator in this role will also recommend and implement teaching and learning strategies and initiatives for our Sports Management degree programs to facilitate successful development a strong experiential learning-based platform for students.
Core Responsibilities:
Administrative Responsibilities
· Participate in the planning and operations of the School of Business and Accounting programs with specific emphasis on the Associate and Bachelor’s degree programs in Sports Management
· Work collaboratively with the Associate Vice President of the department on curriculum development and planning of course offerings each semester
· Hire and orient new faculty to teach sports management courses, and establish faculty performance standards
· Work closely with the admissions and student services departments in the planning and strategic development of activities designed to increase enrollment and improve student retention for sports management degree programs
· Cultivate industry-based partnerships to encourage and provide student engagement for career preparation and application of theoretical knowledge to the real world.
· Recommend and implement best practices and strategies for effective delivery of course offerings, course design, engaging teaching methods, learning activities, and quality of instruction designed to attract and retain students in our sports management degree programs
· Serve as the primary point of contact for faculty, student complaints and disciplinary matters and general troubleshooting issues with course content delivery for sports management degree programs
· Observe and evaluate faculty who teach sports management courses
· Monitor the academic performance of sports management majors and develop effective interventions as needed
· Work collaboratively with the Department of Athletics, other academic units within the college as well as local, regional, national, and international sport organizations.
· Oversee activities of student clubs and serve as liaison with professional organizations related to the sports management major
· Manage and/or participate special projects as needed
· Serve on college-wide committees and fulfill other obligations as required
Faculty Responsibilities
· College and School Engagement - Attend faculty meetings, professional development programs, administrative meetings, and extra-curricular events and programs as required
· Teaching - Teach undergraduate courses in the online environment each semester and provide classroom instruction consistent with the mission of the College, and School of Business and Accounting.
· Advisement - Work closely with academic advisors to proactively monitor and mentor students, providing academic advisement and support that results in persistence to graduation in accordance with the School of Business and Accounting policies
· Teach 2-3 courses per trimester
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
