Summary:

This hands-on leadership role will oversee Temple University’s automated marketing efforts. The Director of Automated Marketing will act as the university’s authority on Salesforce Marketing Cloud (SFMC). They will drive automated marketing strategy within Strategic Marketing and Communications and act as the university-wide authority on all aspects of email/SMS automation and data segmentation/management. The person in this role will be responsible for operations and support across all areas of the university, ensuring optimal performance of SFMC and associated third-party products, configuring Salesforce and related systems based on approved enhancements, maintaining security, integrity, and data quality, providing user training and support, writing process documentation, adhering to proper release management, and maintaining excellent customer service standards. This role collaborates closely with Temple’s Information Technology Services CRM team. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree and at least five years of directly related experience in Digital Marketing Automation, Customer Journey, Marketing, Data Analytics, or similar. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills & Abilities:

• Experience in marketing automation using Salesforce Marketing Cloud: Enterprise Edition.

• Five years of experience (at minimum) designing and implementing Marketing Cloud functionality, including Email Studio, Journey Builder, Content Builder, and Audience Builder.

• Experience designing and developing relational data through Data Extensions and ability to map and load data into Salesforce Marketing Cloud.

• Convert business requirements into effective automated messaging, including understanding of higher education administration: enrollment management, student affairs, registration, etc.

• Experience working on an agile, sprint-based, development team.

• Experience working with Marketing Cloud developer technology, including SSJS, HTML, CSS, AMPscript, and SQL.

• Experience using Automation Studio and Journey Builder.

• Preferred active Salesforce Certifications: Marketing Cloud Email Specialist, Marketing Cloud Consultant, Marketing Cloud Developer.

• Experience designing and developing relational data through Data Extensions and ability to map and load data into Salesforce Marketing Cloud.

This position is assigned a remote work arrangement, the duration of this work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.
