The AIM-AHEAD Coordinating Center: Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning Consortium to Advance Health Equity and Researcher Diversity.

Position Overview
The Assistant Director for Communications will work under the Principal Investigator of the AIM-AHEAD Leadership/Administration Core within the AIM-AHEAD Consortium. The Assistant Director develops and implements strategic outreach and communications plans to increase awareness surrounding AIM-AHEAD initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and three (4) years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

o Higher Education
  • Masters preferred

  • Excellent communicator (written and verbal)
  • 4-6 years of experience (can combine education and work experience)

Job Duties

o
Write and/or edit talking points, speeches, and presentations as requested

o
Provide strategic leadership in identifying media/communications for targeted audiences

o
Utilizing strategic objectives in communications, plans and develops content for the website to effectively promote AIM-AHEAD

o
Serve as spokesperson for the institution to local, state, and national/international media, as needed

o
Provide input to select appropriate representatives to respond to internal/external communications requests and prepare representatives for media interaction

o
Proactively seek interesting news and stories from AIM-AHEAD departments and Programs based on current topics, research findings, and encourage participants to submit story ideas and articles for the website, newsletter, and other outreach endeavors

o
Arrange and facilitate press conferences and media coverage of events, as needed

o
Coordinate media outreach on new program launches or innovative initiatives, as necessary

o
Work with Project Management Office to coordinate communications

o
Other duties as assigned
