What Are We Doing?
Our foundational science harnesses the ability to create and then direct the differentiation of universal pluripotent stem cells into authentic, functional cells that can be used as allogeneic cellular therapies to treat a broad array of diseases. We can also further engineer these cells, enabling them to produce enzymes, antibodies, and other proteins for additional therapeutic benefit.

The Director, New Product Planning will report to the Senior Director, New Product Planning and be a valuable contributor to the broader Corporate Strategy Team. This newly created role will be part of the growing Corporate Strategy functions and shape the early product strategy for BlueRock’s DA program in Parkinson’s Disease.
This role will span across our Neurology assets and support an additional therapeutic area. This individual will lead a cross functional early product team and drive the growth of the neurology pipeline in collaboration with Research, TechOps, Development and Business Development. The role will develop early-stage commercial strategies for multiple assets including indication prioritization, life cycle management and opportunity assessments.
The Director, New Product Planning will require the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented setting with cross-functional stakeholders and program leads. Key internal partners for this position include research, clinical development, medical affairs, market access, technical operations, program management, forecasting and insights, and business development functions.
Responsibilities:
- Leading all aspects of product strategy and inputs for new products including indication selection and sequencing, global market and disease understanding, competitive landscape assessments, patient journey and treatment paradigm, target product profile, positioning and value proposition, forecast assumptions and sensitivity analysis including commercial implications of scientific/clinical data as well as disease and device market development, customer and patient segmentation, and other activities related to strategic market development
- Ensuring feasibility of each program and the pipeline holistically to contribute to portfolio optimization decisions
- Engage and partner with cross functional commercial colleagues from Bayer and internal BlueRockers to align on and achieve objectives. Organize and lead DA early product team
- Provide commercial perspective for program and input on research, device, clinical development, supply and regulatory strategy
- Partner with Forecasting and insights team to distill key insights, validate business opportunities, and inform specific brand strategies and tactics
- Work closely with Competitive Intelligence, Forecasting and Insights team, on competitive tracking and analysis supporting programs and help promote the development of product strategies and clinical development in neurology
- Developing opportunity assessments, forecast assumptions and recommendations to support pre-clinical pipeline assets through program stage gate transitions and discussions with leadership
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree with at least 10 years of experience in biotech/pharma strategy development (analysis, planning, execution) or minimum of 7 years of relevant experience with an advanced degree (Masters, MD, PhD)
- Understanding of pharmaceutical R&D process required; prior experience working with development teams preferred
- Experience in lifecycle management and product strategy
- Excellent communication, presentation, collaborative and influencing skills across internal and external stakeholders.
- Detail oriented self-starter with the demonstrated ability to analyze, synthesize and present both business and scientific content
- Project and vendor management experience with the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Product launch experience preferred
- Global/international experience strongly preferred, including the ability to collaborate with colleagues and staff in other locations
- Flexibility with hybrid working arrangements available depending on candidate location
- Travel estimated to be ~10%
