Our team, Powertrain Engineering, is at the heart of Volvo Group Trucks Technology North America. We are proud product owners for components, systems as well as complete powertrains. We are responsible for the lifecycle management of our products, from advanced engineering, through product development and into the maintenance phase.
Many of our powertrain components are traditional combustion engines, after treatment systems, transmissions, and axles however the importance of e-mobility components is growing every day.
We stand in front of significant challenges – where reducing transport emitted CO2 emissions is one of the biggest – and are now adapting to take this on by simplifying and empowering our organization on and way of working. As an integrated part of this we have high expectations to reduce development lead-time and cost and driving innovation and employee engagement through our leaders leading technology and people. What You Will be Doing
As a Director, EATS & Combustion you will lead the application of EATS and Combustion systems for the North America market. This team will be organized in product systems including hardware, SW development and engine calibration (HW, SW and DST) according to agile principles and your task will be to both be the leader of technologies as well as people.
You will also be responsible for:
- Leading, coaching, and developing front-line engineering managers in your function
- Setting strategies for the function to sustain a long-term competitive advantage
- Developing work force plans and securing adequate competences for current and future needs
- Driving continuous improvement plan and fostering innovative thinking
- Taking the product ownership for the modules/functions in your scope and leading the execution of roadmaps
- Delivering projects on time with right quality and according to budget
- Supporting technical decisions on component & system level with global and cross-functional network
- Developing interfaces towards other functions to support project deliveries and make daily operation more efficient
Who You Are
You are an experienced leader, with a can-do attitude, who takes initiative and has a desire for improvement. You actively encouraging strong communication amongst your team and have a passion for developing people as well as technology. You are looking for a new challenge that will allow you to grow both personally and professionally.
Requirements:
- Master’s Degree in a related engineering field
- 12+ years of experience in Product Development within the automotive industry
- Leadership experience as a manager with direct reports is a must. Leading leaders experience is an advantage
- Experience in project management of large projects, specifically in an agile environment, is an advantage
- Strong technical knowledge and understanding of the market and applications
- Strategic thinking and business-focused, seeing ahead to future possibilities and translating them into purposeful actions
- Proven experience in building effective teams, maximizing each person’s contribution to achieve common goals
- Effective communicator, able to provide a clear message and use compelling arguments to gain commitment
- Accountable and resilient with ability to drive cross functional and global network and overcome roadblocks
