Position Summary:
Mercury Insurance is looking for a Director of Information Security. The position will report to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO). You will be in the driver seat building our Information Technology program and play a huge role as part of the overall platform transformation.
Essential Job Functions:
1. Develop, implement, and maintain an effective information security program that aligns with the company's overall business objectives and risk management strategies.
2. Provide leadership, guidance, and oversight to the information security team to ensure the company's information and technology assets are adequately protected.
3. Identify, assess, and manage information security risks, including conducting regular risk assessments and vulnerability assessments
4. Develop and implement security policies, procedures, and standards that comply with regulatory requirements and industry best practices
5. Conduct regular security awareness and training programs to educate employees on the importance of information security.
6. Monitor and investigate security incidents and take corrective actions as necessary. Keep abreast of emerging security threats and trends, and develop strategies to address them
7. Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, such as DOI, HIPAA, PCI, and SOX.

Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum of 15 years of experience within the IT Cybersecurity discipline, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
Knowledge and Skills:
- 10+ years of experience in information security, with at least 5 years of experience in a leadership role.
- 5+ years of experience working in information technology within an insurance company, or other financial services company.
- Strong knowledge of information security best practices, standards, and frameworks, such as NIST, ISO, PCI, and CIS.
- A proven track record in managing and leading teams that have planned, designed, and implemented security and network management solutions, such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, SIEM, and endpoint protection.
- Management and engineering of information security projects, including comprehensive security policy development, security assessments and audits, security project management, security design and implementation using multiple vendor products.
- Experience in implementing security solutions in cloud environments, such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other IT teams, business leaders, and external partners.
- Relevant industry certifications, such as CISSP, CISM, or CRISC, are highly desirable.
