PPG Aerospace is hiring a Senior Design Engineer. The Transparencies Design Group at PPG Aerospace provides the designs, technical specifications, and direction for developing new products and materials along with guidance to the development of new process technology, improvements to existing products and process technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- The Design Engineer is accountable for the engineering design, certification, and support of both new and existing Aerospace Transparencies products delivered to the market.
- Provide product testing and product performance evaluations to assure that products and transparency programs profitably meet performance expectations defined by the customer, regulatory agencies, and the Aerospace Transparencies Platform.
- Responsibility for technical communications within PPG, as well as to customers and to government regulatory agencies and authorities by means of engineering test reports, presentations, white papers, etc.
- Will be the lead Design Engineer on key new programs and coordinate the activity of Design Engineers and structures analysts in the group and review and approve test plans, certification test reports, and results of finite element analysis as they apply to PPG transparencies products.
- Remain technically aware of market and industry trends, government and international regulations, customer requirements and PPG Aerospace Transparencies manufacturing process requirements.
- Technical responsibilities include providing design and program certification support to the Huntsville, Sylmar, Texas, and Aerospace manufacturing facilities.
- Participate in the New Product Introduction process and Technical Reviews and Management Gate Reviews and will be a key contributor in the engineering review board (ERB) and material review board (MRB) processes.
- Provide continuous improvement for the department’s environmental, health and safety, quality and value performance to insure an injury free work place, 100% compliance to customer happiness while meeting plant profitability objectives.
- Salary Range $80,500-$115,000
Qualifications:
- US Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Minimum of a BS degree in Aerospace, Electrical or Mechanical engineering or in a related field of study.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Prefer candidates with 15 of experience, but open to candidates with a minimum of 3 years of experience based on the type of experience and educational background.
- Must possess a strong background in concepts particular to aircraft design and analysis of aircraft flight loads along with a thorough understanding of structural mechanics and the Finite Element Method.
