Job Summary:
The data architect provides leadership, analysis and design related to the development of data solutions in support or independent of other BI solutions. They collaborate with the agile product management team, project management and/or other leadership for one or more teams to guide the evolution of such data solutions. They collaborate with system, domain, and enterprise architecture to assure that the solutions they develop are aligned with broader architectural direction. They utilize critical thinking, analysis, communication, and influence skills to develop and ensure data architecture is in alignment with business goals and enterprise architecture. They exhibit high proficiency in logical and physical data modeling along with a deep understanding of underlying database structures and capabilities. The data architect is expected to have/develop an acute business acumen and domain specific data knowledge.
Essential Functions
- Develops and presents an overall data strategy to IT and Business Executives.
- Translate advanced business analytics problems into technical approaches that yield actionable recommendations across multiple domains.
- Rapidly design, prototype, and implement enterprise-grade on-prem and cloud-based data solutions.
- Analyze large-scale structured and unstructured data to drive prototype ideas for new tools and products.
- Help data engineers build and test new systems per specifications.
- Develop standards and guidelines around code development, test strategies and naming conventions across assets.
- Optimize legacy complex data models and re-engineer legacy frameworks.
- Highly proficient in tuning databases and ETL code for optimal performance.
- Helps create and sustain a Data Engineering Community of Practice and mentor other team members on documentation and solution development aligned with overall data strategy.
- Understand and abide by the project management and solution development methodologies.
- Maintain industry leading technical skills and expertise through continuous education and training.
- Highly organized with good time management skills; customer service oriented, and strong interpersonal and presentations skills; analytical thinker with creative problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Performance Expectations
- Understand and create complex data models, structures, data processing
- Attention to data quality and data lifecycle
- Preferred: Experience in Healthcare sector (3+ years) and previous experience with EMRs.
- Preferred: Preferred Minimum 5 years of application development experience.
- Preferred: 3+ years of EPIC Clarity/RWB experience, including experience with clinical analytics and creation of data repositories, knowledge of business processes (IP, Ambulatory, revenue cycle, etc), knowledge of clinical data harmonization with sets such as ICD9/10, CPT, LOINC, RxNORM, and experience creating ETL processes from relational database management systems.

- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent Required
- Masters Degree or equivalent in related field Preferred
- 5 years of related experience Required
- 7 years of related experience Preferred
- Technical standards development experience Required
- Software, system or technology engineering experience at highest level of proficiency Required
- SDLC and technology implementation experience
- Prior health care or payer experience Preferred Technical Requirements
- Experience with Oracle (PL/SQL) and MS SQL Server (TSQL) platforms
- Epic and Clarity/Caboodle data model familiarity preferred
- ETL/ELT Tool experience required (SSIS, Informatica, SAP DS, Alteryx, Qlik Replicate etc.)
- Snowflake (or similar) along with its security and interoperability feature experience preferred
- Shell scripting Primary Location SITE - 25 Ottawa Ave SW - Grand Rapids
This is a position that primarily deals with databases. Snowflake, MS SQL Server, Oracle, SSIS, Informatica and other related tools are required for this position.
A successful candidate should be an expert with Snowflake
Location: Remote, candidate must be in eastern time zone
