Job description

Customer Service Representatives (CSR) gather facts and evidence to see if someone is eligible for benefits. A CSR helps the public by answering a wide variety of questions both in person and via telephone. They conduct interviews, investigate situations, and resolve issues. In addition, they review information to determine ongoing eligibility for Social Security benefits, and analyze a claimant's benefit payment history.
Job Qualifications: Associate's or Bachelor's Degree with a 3.0 minimum grade point average.

After two consecutive years of successful performance, a Customer Service Representative's pay increases to $47,124. Within five years, pay escalates to $55,668. Pay tops out at $67,848 for this position. Pay amounts are in 2023 dollars, and amounts can also be increased yearly with a cost-of-living adjustment granted by Congress each year. Successful performance at the Customer Service Representative position can lead to a promotion as a Claims Specialist.
