Your Role at Cabot:

Cabot has a contract position (duration up to 6 months) for a Research Associate in the Analytical department at our Billerica, Massachusetts technical center. This position will support a parental leave. Our Analytical department serves all functions (R&D, Manufacturing, Tech Service, QA, Regulatory, Standard Bodies, and Intellectual Property) globally by providing analytical & physical chemistry data, interpretation and problem solving. The team is also developing new methods for product characterization as well as mechanistic understanding of product-performance relationships and process conditions to product attributes.You will work with our experienced team of analytical scientists to test materials and formulations in support of various programs within the company. This is a great opportunity for a recent college graduate who would like to get hands-on lab experience and learn analytical sample preparation and instrumentation methods as well as for an experienced lab professional interested in trying a new opportunity or get back to the lab bench.

How You Will Make an Impact:
  • Prepare samples for characterization (for ex. wet chemistry methods, preparation of thin sections by microtome, etc.)
  • Execute activities under supervision, troubleshoot issues in a timely manner and drive the resolution of problems.
  • Apply analytical/instrumental methods to generate data, conduct data analysis, and organize and interpret data to establish and support new product or application learning. The level of involvement will be commensurate with prior experience.
  • Proactively share knowledge and information with others to drive stronger technical solutions. Organize and communicate data to technical groups in a way that is clearly understood.
  • Strictly follow and comply with all SH&E procedures, standards and regulations and constantly strive for Excellence in the fields of sustainability and Safety, Health and preservation of the Environment.
What You Will Bring to Cabot:
  • Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering discipline.
  • A good understanding of/willingness to learn laboratory equipment, procedures, and safety practices.
  • Strong analytical, observation and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-starter and attention to detail.
