By joining our Division of Facilities Support Design and Construction Section as a Construction Superintendent II in Franklin County, you’ll have the opportunity to provide field training and advice to construction superintendents and personally superintend projects.

Holders of the Construction Superintendent II position will complete tasks such as:
  • Inspect and evaluate buildings and improvement projects for proper compliance with contract documents, plans, and specifications.
  • Prepare plans, specifications, cost estimates, and obtain regulatory approval for all building property improvements and repair projects.
  • Prepare agency request for quotes and specifications necessary to issue contracts per the division's construction purchasing authority.
  • Coordinate and supervise several projects simultaneously.
Holders of this job will obtain the following skills:
  • Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge preparing plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
Desired candidates possess the following requisite skills or experience applicable to the position:
  • Prior construction experience.
  • Knowledge of cost estimating.
  • Ability to travel statewide.
Work is conducted at construction sites. Bending, stooping, uneven terrain, and extreme temperatures are present.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Six years of experience as construction estimator, general contractor, architect, engineer, construction superintendent, in construction trades or in supervising one or more trades crews in major construction, or major renovation or major maintenance repair projects.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Additional experience as listed above will substitute for the required college on a year-for-year basis.

Working Conditions
Incumbents working in this job title will be exposed to noise, dirt, temperature variances and other conditions inherent to construction sites.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
